Do you bid on auctions with 2 or more coins offered in it?

I've been looking at the same couple auctions on eBay for the past 3 to 5 months and one has 2 different
mint mark coins same year and the other has 3 different. I really only need just one mint mark from each
auction and would rather not buy the whole auction. As a seller do you have better luck offering one coin
at a time or selling multiple coins in an auction? As a buyer do you bid on auctions like this?

A few times on this type of listing I contacted the lister and asked if they would list only what I needed. Actually in one case worked a back door deal and got the coin I wanted cheaper that what I was thinking I would have to pay. In another case they listed another auction with just the one I wanted, but I got outbid on it.image
And no for the collection I will not buy extra coins just to get one anymore. Found the others are usually the losers when trying to resell.

Sometimes if I can get them cheaper by buying all of them together. Then resell the ones I don't want.

At the last Goldberg auction I was bidding very strongly on a box lot of over 500 coins because there was one coin in the box that I really wanted for myself. image

Of course, I knew I could have eventually resold all of the other coins, but it would have taken forever to do so, hahaha! I'm sorta glad there was another bidder that wanted the box more and outbid me image

I have to really really want it - job lots in auctions are a PITA though. Nothing like ending up with a few sloppy seconds to deal with.

Depends on the coin I want and the auction.... good price, yes, really want/need it, yes... other than that, no. Cheers, RickO

As a seller I would say they prefer single coins. I will put multiple coins in lots. usually cheap modern stuff (copper, cupro nickel) too inexpensive to fool with listing singly. I have sold silver rolls and lots. These are items traded on BV basis.

One thing I definitely don't like is somebody wanting me to break up a lot just to sell him one coin.
