Does it matter! The coin here is gorgeous. The coin is for sale on the BST now and I might have to buy it. I want to hear the story!!

It does in case anyone else doesn't know this. I know some people don't want to do business with BNB and so if he has different aliases, people may want to know that.

Rumor is that BNB has a alt ID on the forums and posts often, etc.

I don't think the thread is for that. This is a happy thread!! No rumors image

PS I think the OP would rather us keep it related to his !imageBeautiful Merc!image more than anything

Actually, I'm glad mkman123 brought that up. I want nothing to do w/ that guy and its a good reminder that he is still around operating under different names.

mkman123 is right, many of us want nothing to do with the unstable kid and wish people wouldn't feed the troll.

Yeah, someone needs to take that kid out behind the barn and pull the trigger! He's worse than human bile in my opinion!

I originally bought this coin from a local coin shop raw for an extremely low amount on one of their bid boards. I knew it was UNC and pretty, so I sent it in to PCGS on one of my orders after having it awhile. I was just hoping to get it in any grade holder and I wanted a Trueview since I knew I never could capture that type of photo with the camera I had then. Was really surprised when it came back MS67, though it does deserve it. Even more surprised with how awesome the Trueview was. Eventually I sold the coin to the OP and then the OP had it stolen.

Then, I hear Jay R. (bigjpst) was able to purchase this coin (not knowing the history) and it's quite a coincidence that we share a table at the Long Beach Expo!!! He listed it on the BST and was almost immediately contacted by Jay C. (Quality Rare Coins) who I believe wanted to buy it, but together they ultimately figured out it was the coin I made and eventually sold to the OP. While they both deserve credit for getting the coin back to the OP, I felt it important to note that bigjpst deserves quite a bit of credit for getting the coin back to the OP and forgoing the easy money he could have made in reselling the coin quickly and quietly. I know Jay R. (bigjpst) is too humble to try to take credit for himself so I wanted to put it out there for him.

Great story and awesome dime image

    Good work and good story!!

To the OP, how much more of the collection is unaccounted for, if you don't mind me asking?
  • NotSureNotSure Posts: 2,980 ✭✭✭
Was this all 'inventory' (whatever was stolen, and I don't remember hearing/reading about a theft from the OP), ie, stuff that was to be sold? I only ask as it went up on the BST right quick. I hope you are able to recoup whatever else was stolen.

As for QRC, I find it strange to say this, given our history, but if he had a hand in HELPING, I'll give him props for that. Though, I do find it disturbing (though not surprised, I expected it) that he does have an alt here, after getting the boot a few times. He'd have to if he jumped on this coin when it was put on the BST. Though, and not to derail the importance of the thread, in a youtube vid, he does admit to messing up the infamous 3-legged Buffalo (hope the buyer doesn't see that vid, as he's admitting to giving a fraudulent description of the coin), along with calling Mr. Hall his 'friend', which is questionable at best.

But, everything aside, if he had a hand in recovering a stolen coin, w/out 'profiting' off it, I'll give kudo's when deserved, and even the slightest hand in recovering ANY stolen coin does deserve props.

BUT, perhaps he HAS learned a bit...and I'll admit I kinda like his real website, also. And keep in mind, JoeDoily, I was one that would have gladly pulled the trigger behind the barn, so, maybe, just maybe, he's grown up a bit and found SOME humility/honesty. So, for me to give props to him is a real stretch for me (but, JoeDoily and BartholemewHunt, you guys weren't around, at least not as registered members, when the shyte hit the fan when he was around the first few times, so unless you were lurking back then.....interesting, unlesss you caught his act on 'that other' forum...not ATS).

So, to the OP, congrats on getting back a beauty of a coin, and again, hope you get everything else back, and props to those that helped recover it for you. Though, what of the $$ put out by the buyer (bigjpst)??? Is he simply 'on the hook'????
    I'll come up with something.

The OP had it stolen and then bought it back. Is this correct?

Hi, just so I know to avoid him - Who is "BNB"? I've heard this acronym thrown around in other threads... so what's the story behind him?

Something must have gone down before I joined the forums...? image

Oh, and congrats on the recovered dime image always love hearing stories like this.

It is my understanding that the OP had it stolen, then bigjpst bought it, then once he discovered it was one of the coins stolen from the OP he promptly mailed it to the OP. I do not believe bigjpst requested any payment.

Yikes. Lloyd had it stolen? Why would he do that?

Seriously, was this among his coins stolen last year, most of which were recovered?

Glad there was a happy ending.
