Anyone here snipe the Super Rare Doily sample tonight?

I have been watching this all week, my $750 bid with 4 seconds left didn't even register as it had jumped above that by that time.
Handcut doily sample label. Very cool and congrats on a cool piece to the owner!
Hope no one minds me asking!

P.T. Barnum nailed it.
In any case, that is about twice the highest price I am aware of. Easily a new record.
<< <i>IMO I would break it down as about $750 / 110.

One could get a nice slabbed Proof 66 Walker for this and have a larger resale market in future? What do i know. I do know you could get several Gem Pr Mercs...lovely coins. Plastic degrades over time too...

Yes, other coins have a higher resale. But what value do you put on how much someone enjoys owning something. What if owning a cool piece like this, 1 of only 2 known, is really exciting for someone, worth spending $300 or $400 on that they won't get back? How is that any different from spending a couple hundred dollars to go to a concert or a ball game? Just my opinion.

Hello,
It was just a comment :-) You preach to the converted. I have spent vast sums for the most ephemeral of items that have no resale market at all, such as dried fruit saved from a private luncheon on the R.M.S. Mauretenia in 1934. And I have spent those hundreds on front row tix for Bowie, Waters/Floyd and Radiohead etc. Those experiences you can REALLY not get again. Like a Dark Side of the Moon concert. There could he 100 of these hand cut early doilies? I dunno. I just see a (albeit dimishing) difference between paying $$$ for a Beatles ice cream sandwich wrapper and the wrapper for a sandwich wrapper...
Best wishes,
Eric
It was significantly less than my snipe-max.
Like Oreville said in the Doily thread, PCGS has been studying this one for years.
