EF40 and XF45 is the way I started out with the old 2x2's.
Now if possible I try to find AU's.

I prefer XF. I also prefer PF for Proof, while most people use PR which to me should be POOR, instead of PO.

The official ANA grading book says to use EF so that's what I use.

Same here.

It's obvious we can't all agree on how to apply the ANA standards, but couldn't we at least agree on the names? They are standardized.

EF = Extremely Fine (not Extra Fine, btw)

XF = Xtremely Fine (no such word!)

I used EF for many years, and still do sometimes for raw coins, but now always use XF for any PCGS coins I have in that grade.

"Extra" starts with an "E"

The word "extra" begins with an E.
The word "fine" begins with a F.

It should be EF but some people like to get creative. If you really want to get creative and you want to use the second letters of the words then it should be XI.

Why mix them up. Silly.
