<< <i>coin doesn't seem to match the price to me for an L19 but then again, maybe i've been drinking >>
Seriously looking at that thing unless you needed it for a custom HTT flooring or bar top glue down project it wasn't worth more then the $2.95 shipping

To Err Is Human.... To Collect Err's Is Just Too Much Darn Tootin Fun!
There was a coin shop here locally where the owner stated he had a $1/2 mil. In HTT's in his " private collection" After a few years of me pestering him to see it and give me an opportunity to purchase them he says if you have the money I will bring it in.......I said, bring it on
After another month or so he told me he is still gathering them together and said he also remembered he had the "am i not a man" slavery HTT(forget the number) anywho.....several more months pass by and further poking by me he finally brings it in.........well, well, well.....you know what? They all looked like the one on eBay. And as far as the Rare HTT he says he couldn't find it.
And yes I asked him if he was not mistaking the British Conder token for a HTT
I guess that sorry a$$ auction reminded me of the absurdity
About 1 1/2 to 2 years ago I get an email from a small time dealer in your neck of the woods that they had just bought a collection of 300 HTT's and if I was interested. Of course I was and then he mentioned they had just been sent to NGC and I'd have first shot once they returned. A couple months pass and I get an email with 291 clipped-n-pasted NGC cert# verification scan links and of course like a fool I click on all 291 looking for a HTT! They were all common D&H Condors in grades VG-8 to VF35 for a high with lots of duplicates. At $18 a pop not a single one was worth certifying.

The saddest thing I see in collecting hobbies is when people find out their mega "$1/2 mil." collection is only worth a fraction. Especially when it's because the B&M they frequented for the past decade(s) told them the commons they bought were rare valuables (and they never got a second opinion until it was time to liquidate).
The second-saddest thing is when they know their collection isn't what they claim, but they think they're fooling everyone.
The situation I find sad, is the people who buy coins under the impression they are or will be valuable (i.e. TV hucksters etc), brag about them, get angry when you try (diplomatically) to tell them actual worth, and eventually find out they were conned. Then they become even more angry because "you" did not try hard enough to convince them..... yep, has happened to me. Cheers, RickO
