If it's US Mint made I believe they will. Appropriate designation of Genuine/damaged/acid treated or some such.

PS is that the one on ebay right now?

no, i don't have it up anywhere. i haven't found any acid date buffs anywhere in a PCGS slab... i'd assume they'd holder it but i'm not sure yet.

I'm glad to hear from other "acid treaters" as well as myself. I found two 1913s Typ.2's and one 1913d Typ.2,no 18/7 though. That would be cool!

I haven't seen any slabbed before, even though they should do it.

But I think they should also slab hobo nickels and potty dollars too, but they have refused me in the past. Why can't they put those in genuine holders and say surfaces tooled???

Same with counterstamped coins, they slab some of them, but I've been refused on others when all I've wanted was the coin in a genuine holder marked damage or whatever. Seems pretty inconsistent on what they will and won't do.

You might check thread history....seems this was discussed before...I believe they will slab them. Cheers, RickO

I have never seen a 'Nick-a-date' Buffalo in a PCGS holder.

Doesn't mean they won't though...good question for the Q&A Forum.

It's done to "raise" the date that's been worn off. There is a specific type oif acid that's sold under the name "Nic A Date". It eats around the date area, and the date shows up.

note: Sometimes the date area doesn't need the acid! If one can tell if it's a Typ.1 or Typ.2 ( by the mound on the reverse) you just have to acid treat the mint mark, whether it's a "s or d". If your really lucky, you don't even have to use any acid at all,by checking the reverse for the Typ.1 or 2. and the O.P. is right,it really is fun going through to past the time, and very inexpensive also.

The 1916/16 can be identified without the date because it's a DDO and you can see doubling in the Indian's feathers in even low grade examples.

Not my coin and honestly, I place very little value on coins that have been treated as such.
I'm not the guy to ask when it comes to worth on these.
