I'm trying to find an old thread that I remember from a few years ago. It had to do with silver dollars being removed from circulation in the Northwest US in the late 1960s. Men in the local bars were so used to putting down a silver dollar on the counter and receiving two beers in exchange (maybe it was 3 or 4, I don't remember for sure), that they were taping two half dollars together and using that instead.
