    If anyone has a gold coin to draw RYK out it would be you, George Kellogg. But RYK was with me several years ago when I acquired this coin and he always thought highly of it so maybe it will work.

    WOW!! I don't know if that will get RYK out but that 55-D sure got my attention! Beautiful, great rare date.

    Here's a coin with lots of original mint luster, rare for the type and for early coins in general

    Most old gold has had the original mint luster worn and/or polished away. Sometimes the wear is then covered with "dirt" and called "original" by some, but that's not the original surface from the mint.
