These coins auctioned to cheap.......
Where was the big money for these coins?
Based on the sale of the 1794 sp 66 dollar the 1796 Bust Dollar Sm Date Sm Let MS65 NGC CAC $1,175,000 went far to cheap.
And the 1852 $10 Humbert MS68 NGC CAC $1,057,500 was a giveaway. ( Eric Newman provenance)
The assigned grades are multiples above other specimans.
I really thought these coins were special and would go for a lot more.
Im going to form my own syndicate if these great coins come back to auction but I predict will have to pay up the second time around.

Also, if you're still convinced that the two coins are cheap compared to the 1794 Dollar, there's the obvious question. Could it be that the 1794 was too expensive?

Fair question .......but if we are making comparisons to the art world like sometimes coins are compared too the answer is no.
Not sure who bought those coins but I think the hedge funds who invest in coins were asleep .........

Eric Newman is older than the 1913 nickel.
I would rather own the 1852 $10 Humbert MS68 NGC CAC at $1,057,500 ( Eric Newman provenance) all day long versus the Walton nickel.
And when it comes to stories Eric Newman is a greater story.

Neither coin can be replaced at any amount. Condition rarities, yes - but what spectacular examples they are. As far as the bust dollar goes, I will emphatically state that NO ONE knows what a true gem common date bust dollar sells for - because the examples sold at auction in the past few years just aren't that nice for the grade. So when an all there gem CAC'd example of a scarcer date with very few choice unc coins comes along - all bets are off. Bottom line is that there are more collectors of bust dollars in choice unc than there are examples of the 1796. There were four or five bidders on that coin above $800k hammer!
Those who do truly memorable things, in most any field, rarely pass....
