The "EchoCanyon Rack Pack Holder".

As a stated in the title, this is ONLY a prototype. There is still much to figure out.

    I like it! Top to bottom widtrh is perfect but I'd like to see it stretch a bit longer left to right so the header card doesn't protrude from the holder. Is this your own fabrication?


    Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

    They make holders for almost everything else. Why not rack packs? Neato!

    Nice looking holder, agree with Grote if you just make them a little bit longer they will be perfect for my racks. Great idea turned into a reality!

    The only problem I see is the acidity of the plastic; if this is made from the same plastic as a traditional toploader or magazine toploader, it's not archival rated. Great concept piece though.

    Theres nothing to laugh at. I think you did a good job.

    I do agree that it would be better if the tag fits as well, but then you have the issue of taking it back out.

    I dunno if a notch indented in the plastic is a solution or not.

    I dunno if its financially viable, but if you can figure out a way to make these, you're gonna make at least a few people happy.

    I would think that if the opening was on the top (long side) it would be much easier. But I don't know what other isuues this would cause.

    A holder like this, but in a 2 piece snap version, even if
    once snapped together would have to be broken
    open like a TPG slab, would be awesome. I would
    be in for a few.

    That way there would be no chance of damage getting
    the rack into or out of the holder, and it would be
    sealed on all sides.

    Thanks for the kind words. All of you.

    Like I said in the OP, it is just a prototype.

    I did mention a few weeks (maybe months) back that I would take a stab at a rack pack top loader.

    When I move forward, rest-assured, the header will fit in perfectly.

    Definitely looks great for the 1981 and later racks!! I'm not sure about the 70's stuff because of the way their seal sticks out all around. That said, even GAI rack holders had issues with the mid to late 70's packs. .

    Wow that looks nice - Once the design is ironed out I am sure it would not take much to design them for Racks of different years.

    Hey Gregg,

    Just got back from April 15th, LOL. Awesome first pass. I agree with suggestions that either the racks get loaded from the top or it is a snap on type case. You want to make sure the racks can be placed in the holders easily as it is not hard to damage those mid-70's and earlier racks. Lots of potential here.

    Depends on the finished product and if there is a discount for buying in bulk (10-20).

    Gregg, I think $3 is not too much even for cheaper mid-to-late 80's packs. Anything more may limit the appeal of these holders to 1980 and earlier racks with an exception for any 1980's money packs (i.e., Ripken, Gwynn, Boggs, Sandberg, Mattingly, Puckett, etc.)

    Speaking for me, most of what I want to holder is mid 80's stuff, so they are not extremly
    valuable. I only want to protect them for sentimental reasons you might say. Keeping that
    in mind, 3-5 each, depending on quantity seems fair.

    Also, thanks for trying this, Im sure even if you cant get a huge response out of us here,
    there are many collectors that have never even heard of this board that want something
    like this!Its a product that I cant believe hasnt been"invented yet." Us crazy cardboard
    guys have been collecting this stuff for years, we gotta protect it!

    $3 is quite a bit less than I thought these would sell at. Anything up to $5 I think would capture most/all of the market. Above that, there's still a market, but people will mostly only holder star packs and older ones.

    Gregg, I think the long side would be better especially for the pre-1977 racks as I'd be nervous pushing them in using the short end.
