VERMONT STATE POLICE REQUESTS ASSISTANCE
My name is Detective Sergeant Edward Meslin- Vermont State Police. I was referred to
this site by Dana of American Gold Exchange as a place where I may get the
information I am requesting. Here is a quick synopsis:
In March 2012 I investigated an accidental death of a man who I would classify as
very eccentric as well as intelligent. He was somewhat of a loner and estranged from
any family. He was also a hoarder who lived in a camper trailer as he could not fit
in his house. An estranged brother was contacted (out of state) and during the
months after his brother's death did nothing to take charge of the estate. During
these months "looters" had at his property (inside and out).
During November 2012 we received a tip that people were cashing in large amounts of
gold coins at area jewelers, coins shops, etc. The investigation up to date has
revealed that about 12-15 people cashed in coins in excess of $250,000.00. Most, if
not all of the people involved are drug addicts, career criminals and no one who
would have legitimate access to these coins. To date, we have arrested 4 people
involved who say that the coins came from the dead guy in Alburgh.
After searching this man's residence (as best we could- he was a hoarder) we can not
find anything tying him to any gold. People who did know him said he invested in
gold but no one ever saw it. This was kept a secret.
Based on what we have learned it appears this guy had been investing in gold for a
number of years, we just don't know where he gets it from. Hopefully you people can
help.
The man's name is RICHARD BURGESS. He legally changed his name to RADKIN (just a one
word name- short for radio kinetics) back in the 1960's. His address is 578 US Rt 2
Alburg, Vermont.
