Off topic. You need to add "Show me a blast white coin." to your openning post to make it suitable for the US Coin Forum.

<< <i>We'll be fine here Vegas. >>
Thank goodness! We, here in Boston, were worried about that! Man, Gov Deval Patrick was just passing on his best wishes to those of you in Vegas! 'tis only a joke, some jealousy, too, I guess..
Here's hoping mother nature goes easy on you in Vegas!! lol
But stay safe ya'll, one of my close coworkers had to fly to Boston this morning for a funeral
I estimate 12" already on the ground. The center of circulation has a pressure of 960 mb, still well south of CT.

A foot on the ground with another 12 hrs to go
There's no snow here in the Southeast, but I do have this Morgan to enjoy, which I've named "Backyard Technicolor Snowman." The photo is courtesy of BluCC.

Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
Should be a fun commute to work tomorrow morning.

<< <i>Last I heard was 200,000+ without power here in Massachusetts. >>
Over 400,000 now without (we are not oone of them), but I am freakin' SOAKED and cold (thank goodness for goggles and Thinsulate!)...15" in Waltham now (right on Rte 128, where it gets a bit colder than Boston, proper (usually more snow, too), and we are expecting up to another 20" possible! Snowblowed the drive 6 freakin times since I last posted, and it looks like I haven't done it once (dad needs it at the ready most times....and boy, is my rotator cuff getting a workout.
THIS is why God put the stem on the apple...so there is a new generation of male to snowblow, rake leaves, and mow the lawn!!!!!!! Gonna get the fireplace going, dry my clothes, tune out, hot chocolate, and get 'a little toasty', with my buddy 'Towelie'!
Here is a "White Out" for your viewing pleasure.
Hot cocoa with marshmallows and a fireplace sounds about right.
Practice makes perfect & nobody is perfect. So, practice being nobody and be perfect !
A few tips... Most important is to slow down! Slower walking, slower driving and slower shoveling... Most injuries up our way occur when your feet almost instantly become higher then your head... So watch your footing and take your time getting out of your vehicle, walking the dog etc...
Most accidents up our way occur when folks just plain and simple drive faster then conditions allow... Stay focused on what you`re doing and drive at a controllable speed... More then ever watch the other guy!
This one many times is over looked but if one is not used to having their hearts pounding out of their chest on a daily bases DO NOT get that OL ticker a pounding like there`s no tomorrow while shoveling or there won`t be a tomorrow... Way better to take breaks often and go check out your coin collection or write a PCGS message board post or something...
All the best... AB

I was pretty close with my guess. There are drifts that are about 4 feet. We have been lucky we havent lost power even with the 40 mph gusts. Just another day in New England. Also my plow guy just called his plow is broken haha. Not to mention we still have about 3 hours of snowfall left before its over ugh.
<< <i>Sometimes it makes more sense to just put on taller boots and wait for the snow to melt. I don't see why people seem to need all the snow off their sidewalks, unless the darn government insists. >>
Would you want school kids walking in the streets?
I shoveled the back part of the house which has a flat roof twice last night and shoveled off another 1' this morning.
<< <i>Sort of interesting cancelling all of those flights. Must be a nightmare trying to temporarily park all of those grounded planes. >>
The flights were cancelled on Thursday, which meant that the airlines cancelling them decided that they weren't going to even bring any planes to Boston given the chance they weren't going to get them out, so there probably isn't an inordinately large number of grounded planes actually in Boston. The nightmare will come Sunday when the airlines have to figure out how to get everyone out. They may bring larger planes in to temporarily increase capacity. I have a lot of colleagues stranded there now that were supposed to be flying back to Munich on Friday night. The earliest a Boston-to-Munich plane will arrive in Boston is Sunday afternoon. If Lufthansa has an extra 747, they may bring that over instead of an Airbus A330. They may also scatter the two days worth of stranded A330 passengers to Toronto, New York, Washington, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Chicago to get them home.

Interesting how the axis of heaviest snow went well inland ...
from Central Long Island
through central Connecticut
through central Mass
up into eastern Maine
as shown in the darker shaded areas of the map below.
It appears that was the path of the convective snow (thundersnow).
Some official totals:
Milford, CT: 38.0"
Gorham, ME: 32.9"
Centereach, NY: 32.0" (central Long Island)
Boston, MA: 21.8"
NYC (Central Park): 11.4"
Many areas in New England got two feet of snow!

It's been nearly twenty years since I saw any real snowfall, back when I lived in the NC mountains.
Y'all stay warm. It's freaky to look at those recent pictures and to have heard about this on the radio this morning, while I am sitting here in shorts and a T-shirt and it must be 70-something outside.
