1) The members here are among some of the most informed, experienced, and worldly people on the planet (at least when it comes to coins)

2) Commentary here isn't taken lightly. Just say something wrong, and see how fast you get corrected.

3) Nobody here forgets anything (at least when it comes to coins)

4) New members are wholeheartedly welcomed.

5) Exposure to unbelieveable material

6) Idiots are hazed out

Hmmm, what else?

    I don't know about that.
Just yesterday I thought a photo of a State quarter was that of a grease filled die and although I was wrong, I wasn't taken to the woodshed like other forums would have done.

Then again, the irony- I suppose one could argue I am correcting you as to what you wrote.

    Now my head hurts.

Has anybody got it better than us? (sorry...niners fan)
    Lance.
  • Seems like a genuinely nice group of people who want to help other collectors. I'd put it up against any message board on any topic.

    9) Unselfish giving of information (hot tips) for "what to buy when it comes out of the mint" i.e. 2008 gold buffalo fractional set, 2011 25th anniversary silver eagle set, etc.

or "errors to look for and score" i.e. 2008/2007 reverse eagles, Wisconsin hi/lo leaf, 2009 formative cent errors, etc.
  • I'll add that this forum has experts, real veteran experts, on just about every series, if not every series ... even holed coins. image

Funny you should say this. Just the other day I was speaking with a fellow enthusiast and I made the comment that the Forum is very good at running off the wackos.

Speaking of, whatever happened to the fellow who asked many questions about his 1931-S Lincoln his grandfather left him who also, during this timeframe was selling the coin on eBay and advertising it as such on the BST forum (using another, totally unrelated story)?

And, the guy who came from a metal detecting forum caught up in hijinks and shenanigans?

As entertaining as they are, they do seem to crash and burn rapidly here. Kind of like a shooting star who is seen for a moment or two and then quickly fades away.
(Of course, there are always more shooting stars- sometimes from the same source ready to go the next evening after sunset when the twilight hours hit.

I agree, much better here then other sections of the message board. Hell on the Sports Cards & Memorabilia BST a guy posted a complete graded 1968 Topps Football set for sale. Another member who was interested like myself asked what's the price and some fool responded if you have to ask you probably can't afford it. I was like WTH, it's about a 6K set and we cant even ask for a ballpark price to negoiate. On the coin BST you rarely see someone crap on anothers sellers thread.
