NFL Championship Sunday Thread with numismatic twist

It is a rare Championship Sunday that features four such cities with sugnificant numismatic ties. (If Denver had won last week, three cities of US branch mints would have remained in the hunt.) In honor of such an occasion, post a coin from each city, or as many cities as you can (see below), starting with the coin from the city whose team you would like to win the Super Bowl.
1. San Francisco
The San Francisco Mint has been operational, on and off, since 1854, while coins were also minted privately in this area for the preceding years of the Gold Rush. Additionally, there are several commemorative coins that specifically pertain to SF and its Mint. Most collectors have a coin with ties to this area.
2. Atlanta
Though Atlanta boasts no operating branch mint, nearby Dahlonega, Georgia held an operating US Mint from 1838-1861, fueled by coins from the Appalachian gold rush, that also helped establish the earlier Templeton-Reid and Bechtler private mints. In addition, many fine national coin shows have been held in this city. In honor of the Falcons, post a coin from Dahlonega, a Bechtler, or a coin purchased at a Whitman or ANA show or auction in Atlanta.
3. New England
The first silver coins ever produced in North America were done so in the mid-1600's in New England by John Hull. We thank him for our Pine Tree Shillings and related coinage. Vermont, Connecticut, and New Hapmshire had state coppers, and numerous other colonial issues (ie. Rhode Island Ship Tokens) hailed from New England. Stretching it even more, who has not purchased a type coin from forum popular NE-based dealers JJ Teaparty, TomB, Dave Wnuck, John Agre and others. The Connecticut Charter Oak is a favorite among the New England themed commemorative coins. So in honor of the perennial powerhouse Patriots, post some Mass silver, another NE-based colonial, a related commem, or a coin purchased from one of these northeastern dealers.
4. Baltimore
Lord Baltimore coinage and nearby Annapolis-struck Chalmers shillings are both esoteric colonial issues, but Baltimore has been home to three of the largest, most comprehensive and famous collections of the last 100+ years (Eliasberg, Garrett, and Newcomer). Additionally, Baltimore boasts the finest regional coin show three times per year. Finally, the Maryland commemorative coin has an enduring design. In honor of the Rat birds, er, Ravens, post a Chalmers shilling, a Maryland commem, a coin pedigreed to Garrett or Eliasberg, or a coin purchased at a Baltimore coin show or affiliated auction.
Finally, I have undoubtedly omitted important numismatic ties to each of these fine NFL cities (state quarters immediately come to mind), so feel free to make your case and post your coins.

Boo-hoo! You know I am a Steelers fan and had to take a shot.
And what reasonable person would consider that an insult to the entire state of Maryland (where I happily resided from 1988-90)?
So post some coins, have some fun with in the spirit in which it was intended, or take a hike.

3. New England: This 1876-CC quarter was recently purchased from John Agre of CRO, located in New England, for my Green Label CC Type Set. The photo is courtesy of CRO.
Baltimore: This 1859-D quarter eagle is from the Garrett Collection. Is this an omen that Atlanta and Baltimore will win their respective games? Photo is by BluCC.

Maybe it wouldn't have been a issue if you had the smarts to root for the only real team in the DMV.
I am going to go slightly off the beaten path with the Moffat piece, struck in 1849, for which the NFL team is named.
2. Atlanta
I was going to go Dahlonega, as expected, but instead I will post a Charlotte gold coin from the North Georgia Collection.
3. New England
A Pine Tree Shilling from CRO is a double winner.
4. Baltimore
A purple toned half dime from the Garrett Collection rounds out the list.

The Steelers? That rings a bell. Oh yes, now I remember, they used to play in the regular season...
GO NINERS!
And here's a photo of the Old SF Mint post-1906 quake. The foreground represents the Falcons sometime this evening.

Brothers Super Bowl!
Darn Broncos could not defend against a 70 yard TD pass by Flacco with about 30 seconds to go in regulation, allowing the Ravens to tie the score at 35-35. Then Denver could not score in OT and Manning through an interception that led the the Ravens' winning field goal in the second OT.

That has to be painful indeed. Now you know what it was like to be a colt fan for the last Decade. Great regular season and early playoff flame outs. Manning is who he is at this point and he just doesn't win many playoff games. In fact the only reason he isn't a bigger joke is he had the pleasure of playing Rex Grossman (the original RG3) in the super bowl and getting a lucky 2 game stretch in the AFC side.

The playoffs are Manning's Achilles heel. As a Broncos fan it's kinda hard to accept Tebow has won more playoff games here than Manning.
<< <i>Sorry east coasters but San Fran gonna win it all for the west coast people
they did win it divisionally, will see what happens at the superbowl now. from new england with love

Actually, you cannot hang that loss on him. The Falcons were outplayed from the second quarter on in every phase of the game.
I'm going with the Mass. silver....mostly because I don't need to hear the media beat the Harbaugh rivalry angle to death for two weeks.......

The Harbaugh's are both heart attacks waiting to happen. I swear I thought Jim's head was going to literally explode when he lost that challenge.
As a U of M guy I'm rooting for a Brady and the Pat's vs Harbaugh and the Niner's

Did anyone really think that ball didn't hit the ground though? Think about what happened last year and how close the niners were, I understand where he's coming from.
<< <i>Actually, you cannot hang that loss on him. The Falcons were outplayed from the second quarter on in every phase of the game. >>
Yes, you can. He had 3rd and 4 at the Niners' 10 and didn't get it done at the end of the game.
He's a fine QB, but the fact is he doesn't win playoff games. The QB is the de facto leader of the
offense. When they fail, he must shoulder the bulk of the blame.

Ball was on the ground for sure. In the end, it did not matter. It was a great game.
