Newp Shown Off At FUN

This one I purchased before Christmas... I had taken this to FUN to show around and had Todd image it and I also had it trueviewed to have the pics entered into the PCGS data base in coin facts... Yousss are probably wondering what the heck as I usually collect other series but I have always loved the design of the Oregon Trail and have looked for one that had great toning for quite a few years now... Every now and then I go out side the box and acquire a type coin that has a great look and when I saw this one I had to have it... I really enjoy viewing this one and have virtually explored every tiny nook and cranny and when done my face always hurts from smiling....

About the only way and one that would work well for anyone knowing Commems would to just simply say it was in Bruce Sher`s collection...

That is a beauty.

Do you have any idea of what caused that multicolored toning? Storage in a leather pouch, perhaps?

AuroraBorealis, Have you received the Tru-View image yet?
In hand is the toning lighter and more vivid along with being lustrous underneath?
As 37-D's are the commonest OT's in MS68 I'm sure over the years I've seen well more then a bakers dozen in hand along with owning 3.
Luster wise some MS67's and most all MS68's 37-D's have intense lustrous depth which in hand looks like if you plunged in head first you'd never hit bottom.
Sorry I'd like to love this as all the others however all I see posted here so far is a lackluster dark coin.
<< <i>Beautiful, stunning, gorgeous, sexy, awesome......what other descriptive words can I use
Are you kidding, no need for any other descriptive words! You had me at sexy...

It has nice luster Broadstruck... With the heavy patination it doesn`t have that bowl luster look that you spoke of however... I think it would be in bad taste for me to compare the first pic I posted with the trueview image... I will say this that I chose the pic I posted because it shows pretty well ALL of the colors that are on the coin... And personally I like that... I know even the rookie coin image r that I am it is a trade off showing all the colors verses showing the luster... You can check out the trueview however by doing a cert verification as that is an awesome shot as well... For fun here`s a cropped closeup for a different point of view...

Absolutely gorgeous! I do enjoy viewing coins from your collection. Do you have an eye-poppin' Texas?

<< <i>I absolutely LOVE it, phenomenal. I am just surprised since there was a thread recently posted about what kind of toning do the members go for, and there are only 9 including myself who voted for toning covering the entire coin and splotchy which this is exactly and imho means it is absolutely natural and original and typically darkly toned. Gorgeous, just the way I like them
Glad you enjoy it Realone and thank you...
I`m also glad everyone enjoys seeing it and I thank youssss... Lakesammman I had an idea you really liked it by the sincere expression on your face when you saw it... Sonora MJ has amazing Oregon`s already and has also congratulated me... Also all most positive it was thumb pushed into an album and that is what contributed to the light areas on the lower obverse... So album toned was the consensus... Littlebear thank you as well as everyone else and head Morgan dollar namer has already named it "THE MASTERPIECE"...
