Hmmm. Looking again, I can see a rather silly comment. Specifically, for the 1971 No S Jefferson, the comment states:
"Found only in Proof Sets"
As for the number count, my holdings start with No. 17.
After that I have 22 other coins some of which I kinda question why they are on the list. Seems to me that the "Speared Bison" got a rather harsh beating on these forums.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
I own 17 of them. I do have to wonder who came up with the list. Too many unique coins on the list. Also, all 12 of the 22k Sacs are at Fort Knox. Why should this be considered a top 100? Why should the 64D Peace and the 74 aluminum be on the list. Anyone owning one or the other will be subject to Feds.
I had not seen the list until tonight, and was surprised to find that I have 28 of them! I don't consider myself to be a great fan of moderns, but I''ve picked up a lot of scarcer issues directly from the mint.
1. No.17 1972 double die cent- which by the way, I pulled from circulation out of a roll on April 13, 1973 at 11:55 pm. (easy for me to remember this date-I got married the next day.)
2. No. 37 1983 double die reverse cent.
3. No. 73 1970-D Kennedy half.
4. No. 85 1997 Jefferson nickel-Special mint set finish
5. No. 87 1970-S small date cent.
6. No. 88 1996-W dime
7. No. 91 1979-P SBA-Wide rim
The only one I have in a PCGS cache is the 1983 double die reverse Lincoln cent MS63.
Nice list, but I would like to see a list of the top 100 modern CIRCULATING coinage coins? NCLT issues non-withstanding; they can have there own list.
Just one, the 1970D Kennedy 50c. For $10 I am on the scoreboard!
The 7 First Spouse coins on the list are all easily obtained and I suspect the subsequent coins in the series will have even lower mintages. Possibly excepting Eleanor Roosevelt and Jackie Kennedy.
I have between 85-90 in my personal collection right now, although I am not sure I would want to set my sights on trying to complete the set (excluding coins ## 1, 3, 5 which are either illegal to own or (near) impossible to own) because I have no interest in owning a speared Bison coin

I'm not a series collector of modern U.S. coins. I only have five of them, and none are certified. I have owned a couple of them in the past, and own the Proof versions of all of the commemorative gold pieces, which are listed in MS, but those don't count.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
Yes, I believe it does. In fact, I believe there is a coin or two deserving to be on the list right now just from the 2012 US Mint sales that recently ended. I am not sure how DH will handle this ... whether changes will be made as needed or once or twice a year or?

<< <i>That list is ridiculous. There's more bullion than coins. >>
Correct me if I'm wrong but I only counted 40 which would be, uhhhh, lets see, shoes off, gloves off, pants, uhhhh 40%!
Of course, IMO, that 1996 Silver Eagle just doesn't belong in the #100 Spot! But then, since the Gold Sacagawea's will require a government overthrow, I don't think they belong on the list either!
There ARE a couple of IKE's which "should have been included" though!
Maybe next year? Or perhaps the year after that provided the low mintage ATB S mint coins don't get in the way!

I knew it would happen.
I do think the 1998-S Kennedy, #86 which I do not own should be higher. I think it is a cool piece.
