My Seated Half collection - updated pictures

It's been a little while since I've posted this set, the pictures have been retaken along with a few new additions. I don't see much hope of ever completing this set, but the chase is fun. Way too many harshly cleaned examples out there!

Gorgeous collection.

I had a raw collection of approx. 80 diff. seated halves in VF to AU, but about 25 of them had problems such as light cleaning.

Yours are perfect and really a nice set.

Double Eagle's description fits my present set's characteristics pretty closely. This is a very demanding series for someone who collects "PCGS only." It will hack up your bankroll pretty quickly, as sellers generally want moon money for anything that got graded problem-free.

Me too. My date set (XF/AU) has a number of coins that would never slab.

I agree with the posters that say 'moon money' about PCGS slabbed examples, but every now and then I find one for a reasonable (close to guide or even below) price, like the 1877-S, which I got for < $100. Patience is definitely the key; I won't jump on the insane prices out there, like the the Ebay dealer that starts with 'key', haha.

I've found it easier to buy raw at shows and "make" my own PCGS Seated halves. I have a group of XF to AU58 halves there right now, including a real nice 1851-O in XF45 that I bought for $300-ish. Try finding that one in PCGS XF45 for a fair price.

Very nice!!!! That is what happens when you buy carefully,you end up with a sweet collection. No "cheap as two pizzas" coins in there.

That Ebay dealer let go of a fine 70-s for a sweet price. Keep your eyes open with him.
