It seemed like a good question when I thought it, but I never would have thought it had it not been for this place. image

Do you want home-fries or hash-browns with your coins today, doctor? image

Hints whispered from DarkSide Paris Mint devotees currently, as they so generously described it, slumming:

Be judicious about use grease on coins. image

Pr-18th century issues may have less reliable planchet quality and extra care must be taken.

A technique using low heat over several days under potatoes lyonaisse is a prudent intermediate step that can be highly effective if a synergistic match can be made between planchet and cheese. Metallic composition is, of course, in reciprocal ways, the drink that is stirred by the sauce that serves it. image

We have much to learn from these coin doctors of Europe.

    Much wisdom have they.

Neither La Cosa Nostra nor the Illuminatti has even been successfully implicated, though at one point conspiracy charges were filed. The next day, all papers and reference numbers mysteriously vanished from the police database.

Potatoes are not very good at restoring coins. The main reason for this is lack of a central nervous system and opposable thumbs.
