Unless they've addressed their expensive shipping charges, I'll not deal with them.

The last time I went to order slab and storage boxes, I cancelled the order when it had reached about $25 in shipping charges alone.

Wow Lee! It's been awhile since my last order, but I've never experienced anything that exorbitant with respect to their shipping fees.

They screwed up one of my orders once. Shipped the wrong item. I contacted them and they quickly sent the correct item without wanting the wrong item returned. Overall, my experience with Wizard has been satisfactory.

Another time, they failed to ship an ordered and paid for item. But when contacted they quickly remedied the situation.

FWIW: I've been buying all of my coin supplies from them since they opened up shop

As a check, I went in an placed an order for two items. A two row slab box and a Heavy Duty Proof/Mint Set Box.

If I increase the number of items, the shipping increases as well:

Double the order, and the shipping has now gotten into the $30 range although now its at least less than what I was buying.

I think the shipping is still too high. What about you?

I picked the two items in your first screen shot off the shelf this morning and packed them up. The total weight is 2 pounds 9 ounces. Checking USPS online for priority mail shipping (the method you used in your example), I see that shipping from 201xx to 956xx is $13.85 at the post office or $12.82 electronically. We would have charged you $11.95 for this package. Please tell the board what you think a fair price for Wizard to charge for shipping these two items from our zip to yours by Priority Mail would be.

I would be happy to weigh and provide similar data for your other two screen shots but you cut off the list of items so I can't tell what all was in your shopping cart in those examples.

In this particular case, in order to skew the shipping charges as much as possible, Lee has picked inexpensive items that are heavy relative to their price and cannot fit in a flat rate box. Shipping is from east coast (VA) to west coast (CA) and he has chosen to ignore the less expensive methods of shipping these types of items.

Our website is loaded with the shipping weight for every product. We connect real time to USPS and FedEx to get accurate rates for shipping the items in the cart at the time. The calculations are based on exact weight and zip code of the shipping address. Our goal is to roughly have the shipping charges cover our actual costs of shipping.

I think you should click by where it says "shipping promotion".

This kind of stuff I'd much rather buy at shows so that I don't have to worry about shipping.

Hmmm. 19Lyds as a promotional code? I feel honored.

As a check, I went to Virg Marshall (The Penny Merchant) who also sells coin supplies. I ordered the same items as what I ordered from Wizard. (1 Mint/Proof Set Box and 1 double Row Slab Box)

I then doubled the order as I did from Wizard (2 of each item)

Granted, VM is in Nebraska but his shipping rate appears to be constant where he obviously makes up the loss in shipping costs with the profit margin of items. However, the items were similarly priced.

My "opinion" that Wizard charges too much for shipping, even with the $9.95 for orders over $50, still stands. Sorry. And BTW, I don't consider the fact that I state my "opinion" as harrassment Wayne. Its an opinion!

Hopefully, my "opinion" has saved you fine folks some money!

I tend to like both 19Lyds and wayneherndon, so this is a confusing thread.

19Lyds-----I am left wondering why a customer would insist on nagging a merchant they are dissatisfied with when they clearly have found another, cheaper source for what they want. it sounds like a hollow, pointless agenda to me.
wayneherndon-----as a merchant with a solid reputation who understands he has a problem customer that can't be satisfied, why would you try to safeguard your reputation??

sorry, Lee, you come across in this instance as a problem that should be ignored. by trying to impugn WH you only hurt yourself.

It's the nature of the beast . Whether one sells a product on Ebay , web site , or here on BST board ,
shipping costs are similar for everyone . Things don't always fit into a #2 bubble mailer , or conveniently
drop into a flat rate or regional box . Our store tries to ship in a most cost effective manor, but being in
New England the better half of our shipping costs are at the zone 5-8 level . A medium flat rate box is
$ 10.85 . Yes , the box is free , but our order filler/packager keeps asking the boss for gas money .
