    Well since the chops appear to be raised instead of incuse, I would guess they were in the mold when these were cast. Plus the rims are just a tad off. Unless it is the rare off center strike saw tooth denticle Morgan my grandfather used to tell me about.image

    That IS an overstrike rather than a chopmark! Good eye!

    Since the overstrike is counterfeit we can safely assume that the understrike is also.

    Didn't notice that at all! That would explain why it's not incuse.

    I agree the host coin does not appear to be genuine either, and it appears to be a Yuan Shikai dollar for what it's worth.

    So it is a kind of a fantasy chopmark Morgan? What does a Chinese Dan Carr look like anyway? Inquiring minds want to know.
    Gold and silver are valuable but wisdom is priceless.
