First Coinstar Find

djmdjm Posts: 1,565 ✭✭✭✭✭
I had to get a few things for Christmas dinner, No I didn't forget the cranberry. I went to the supermarket and they have a Coinstar machine that i never see anybody using, but as I walk by I check the reject tray. Today there was something in it. I scoop up the coins and go shopping. Here is what I found:

1 Columbia Sportswear button
1 2007 Y1 Jiao coin (chineese I think)
1 Mutilated Lincoln Memorial Cent
1 1943 S Steel Cent (Fine)
1 1993 P Dime
1 1948 Dime

Doing the not impressed face.

    That's awesome! It's a major award!

Congratulations..... Coinstar machines have not been nice to me....over the years, only one find in the reject bin, and it was nothing of note. Cheers, RickO

I have yet to find anything. The other day I ran some metal detecting pennies through and debated on leaving a handful of the pitted, eaten up zincolns there in the rejuect tray. Then I just took them and decided to spend them myself.

    Those are good finds!

I saw a coin on top of a coinstar machine today and grabbed it.
LOL.... turned out to be a kid game token.

A month ago I did pick up a cent near a coinstar, it was 1936 wheat cent.

    Yet to strike silver.

I have made many deposits into the lost money pool over the years, this was a withdrawal fron the lost money pool. Over the course of a lifetime it is should even out.

I agree with this, where are all the people demanding you to get the video tapes of the shop to pin point the person who lost this treasure? How dare you keep that! You think you may be entitled because you had the foresight to check the return bin!!!

I am not judging you, I would & do the something!!

I was just playing...do you remember a couple of weeks ago when another member in good standing found a bunch of silver in what I think is a similar bank enviornment and was lamblasted! Again I don't know what a coinstar machine is or where they typically found but I was raised in NYC and lived by the law of finders keepers unless you see it happen or can figure out whose it is to return to rightful owner. >>

It wasn't silver that was found , it was ordinary clad change. It was not in a similar enviroment either , coinstars are not on bank property whereas the instance you refer to was on bank property and lastly the bank manager did or at least believed he could find the rightful owner.
Its enlightening to read the "humorous" comments when clearly the original thread wasnt read.
