Unexpected Christmas present today....

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,790 ✭✭✭✭✭
Was doing some cleaning and I have a couple of spots where I put the common coins (dateless buffs, wheaties, etc) around my desk to look at. It builds up over time....along with mail and other things at my desk.
I periodically clean it up and then it gets "busy" again.

Well, cleaning earlier this morning, and I found the lower grade steel wheaties, copper wheaties, modern coins, buffs, etc and something else that I forgot I had.....

I found an UNC 1999 $5 AGE. Sweet! Raw, of course, but unexpected and a nice find for the holidays image

Great Ron, always neat to find something like that. I thought I had lost my gold Indian in my move...and could not find it for two years. Then one day, looking in a box totally unrelated to coins, there it was....must have dropped in there at some point. Was a really happy find....Cheers, RickO

Tempting to say "yes" and just lay a few buffs around image

Thanks Gil! Same to you, and all the others on the board as well!

I don't find things like this, so doing it was pretty cool. Normally, I find a wheat center or a silver, circ, nickel that I pulled out of a roll. I honestly didn't even know I had a gold AGE (any gold is in the SDB as well as slabs over $50 or so. And, I just made a trip to the SDB on Saturday to put back some coins I had out for a few days. Time for another trip this week image ).

Now, I am curious how long I have had this one....and when/where I acquired it from.....and, most importantly, why I didn't realize it was missing and it wasn't in the SDB image

Can you come over to my place and clean? I've got a raw (in a coin flip) $4K middle-date large cent somewhere in the master bedroom, and cannot find it.imageimage

I will clean for free. As long as I get to keep the spare "change" that I find lying around!

Check to see if it has a W mint mark. A $5.00 AGE made with unfinished proof dies would be a great find!
