finally decided

After much deliberation, and with apologies to the Morgan dollar, I have decided that my favorite U.S. coin (taking in consideration both obverse and reverse excellence in design) is the Walker half dollar.

and you???

Time for you to ditch your avatar pic and name! image

I like the draped bust cent/half cents and the seated no stars dime/hdime designs myself (although a Gobrecht dollar would also suffice). Less is more!

To me it's a tie between the Walker and Mercury Dime. And they were designed by the same man.image

my first set was a short set of mercury dimes mostly as they were cheap for a YN.

My set now is 67's and 68's and special.

I loved Walkers too but the one coin I think was so well designed is the Pan Pac half dollar.

Hard to beat. Both obverse and reverse are gorgeous designs.

I like Walkers also just as much as the 1879 S Morgan

I am working on Short Sets of Walkers in MS 63 , 64 and 65 PCGS Rattlers and Ms 63 and 64 Yellow ANACS Walkers need a few in each set.

And got all most 160 1879 S Morgan Dollars

I find Franklins and early Lincolns endlessly fascinating, the Walker incredibly beautiful, the Buffalo nickel artistic perfection.

Anything classic - seated specifically. Coinage of the 1800's.

I personally think walkers, which includes st gaudens, are uninspiring and boring.

The Winged Liberty Dime is by far the best minor. I would give the Walking half the next position.

As far as Dollars go. I think the very earliest dollars are the best. The Morgans are too generic for me, of couse some are helped greatly by the colors some of them show (that other active thread is awesom); however about number 7 or so on my list.

Still prefer toned Morgans, followed by awesome type coins.

Walkers ARE stunning designs! I can see that as I love those too... As far as design goes Standing Lib quarters are hard to beat... Then in Commems the busy Oregon followed closely by the Texas have beautiful designs and in Gold, Saints are amazing designs... As far as big and colorful toning goes the Morgan is supreme... All that is my opinion anyway... image
