Another Burglary - and this time it was me

Yeah ... nightmare.

Unfortunately I travel too much. Unfortunately the list is long. Unfortunately much of what was taken was raw, in albums (but we are not talking small items - lots of Choice AU Barber material, Walkers, Gem Raw Mercuries, too much early Type, some Gold and 90%). Slabs too, of course.

Some significant, recognizable coins.

Happened in Fresno, CA sometime between Tuesday 12/18 at 3am and Thursday 12/20 at 745 pm

I'm trying to get a full list together.

Based on past threads I logged on the the NCIC and posted, but have not sent them a list yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please PM if you think you can help.

I too, unfortunetly, suffered a coin theft from my Home perhaps a decade or so ago.

If you make "people" aware that you potentially have a coin collection at home
through posting here or on other coin related sites, or have coin related material
delivered to your home, you are at risk! That is how I was marked by the bad guys.

You can figure out who many people are behind their screen names, quite simply at times.

NO COINS should be kept at your Home.

BE AWARE that you are a potential target and protect yourself, your family and your House accordingly.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. We have what we think is a hispanic gang watching us to rip us off. I'll be the last one they ever follow I guarantee you that much.

Be careful out there, if they can't rob you when you're not home they will take it to the next level sometimes. BE PREPARED as best as you can.

    Happy Holidays

Anyone with more information about NCIC and how I should contact them (again I logged onto the website and entered info' but didn't uplaod a list yet), please PM me

I plan on calling the local shop I know well this morning.

If you know dealers on the West Coast who are honest (I know most are, but wouldn't want to alert the 1% of not so honest ones) and want to send me their emails, I will consider and forward them a list.

I have no idea who ... except I don't think they know what they took (I could be wrong), other than it was a safe.

I'm pretty private, and other than family, not many people know I collect. All things considered, it wasn't family or close friends. It looks more like a case of someone knowing some of my traveling habits (unfortunately, hard to disguise when I have been on the road almost every week for two or three days).

Guns were taken and some electronics. Camera. Guitars. A safe. Some things left out in the open where untouched. I won't get into too many specifics here publically.

Reasonably serious hardware required to get in the back door though ... bent a beefy metal bolt plate at least 3/4" out of shape while destroying part of the door frame ... bolt was still sticking out and door standing open when I got home last night.

This is really beginning to blow.....the P.O. loses stuff, break-ins...it's out of control.

My condolences, and I hope these get found, like bestclser1. Good luck....but with most being raw and albummed, well, I'lll just keep my fingers crossed for you.
    I'll come up with something.

OK, I just ordered SDB in my local bank, but didn't have time to move the material there. Today I'm doing that.

Sorry to hear about burglary, I hope you will find your stuff and bad guys will go to jail.

I forgot to ask.....is anyone suspect, like bestclser1 had? You have to admit, it was what, within a week (with help from a forum member), that he had all but 5 coins returned? I'm sure knowing who might be suspect helped. Could be wrong, but bestclser1 is one lucky SOB, if you ask me.

And, kudo's again, to the forum member who helped bestclser1.
    I'll come up with something.

as a general statement is surprises me that
people have there actual first and last name and state
under there profile here........its under the little "eyeglasses" icon
on the top right of your posts......you can / should modify the info
or turn off that option all together

edit to add: i just did a quick google search on a couple of people who

Agree 100% for non dealers and SHHHHH, spies are listening, when you're outside the convention center in a couple of weeks. You'd be surprise how LOUD some get at the restarants. Don't show off. Get in and get home safely

    Excellent advice!

Also, when you get a list of items together, you should forward it to Tina Shireman at the PNG: info@pngdealers.com

Also, to get a list of PNG dealers in your area to alert, just visit the site at www.pngdealers.com

I'm so sorry about your loss. Not knowing anything about your case, I would still strongly suspect that it is someone who is at least aquainted with you, your habits and your schedule. Think hard -- have contractors been in your home? Housekeeper? Untrustworthy relatives or friends? Neighbors? Teenage neighborhood boys hanging around (I'm not being sexist or age-ist here -- teenage boys commit a large percentage of break-ins), etc.

Honestly the guns may be the easiest to trace if they show up on the market. Given S/N's the government is pretty picky about things like that on sales.

I don't know you, but I have seen your posts and some of your beautiful coins. Clearly, you have a great eye and taste for quality. I am really hoping you get the break you deserve. My thoughts and prayers are with you my man.

The amount of break-ins, robberies and numismatic/bullion/jewelry related crimes is way up according to the NCIC (numismatic crime information center). Here is an article albeit from March. Be super careful people.

Oh man...that really sucks. Very sorry, Todd.

Keep an eye on Craigslist, ebay, etc. Talk to dealers within driving distance. Fortunately thieves are pretty stupid and I hope they get tripped up.

Sad fact is they were not probably targeting the coins home burglaries always increase this time of year.image

Most likely as mentioned the guns are more traceable if serial numbers are known and are most likely to lead to convictions.

I hate news like this, i hope you catch a break quickly.

I added almost 100k in gun insurance ( some scheldued and some blanket) and a little more on scheldued jewerly a few weeks back. I was surprised at how little it cost.

I have a SDB but i will quit collecting when i never have any coins at home. I am a believer in the scatter theory, i have stuff in many, many different locations.
