That really sucks buddy, my heart dropped when I read this especially because I like your taste in toned coins. Praying that you get your collection back.

Lloyd this is terrible news and so sorry to read this thread.
I would strongly suggest you get ahold of Doug Davis at NCIC as posted earlier in the thread. He may be able to help you get the heat turned up at your local law enforcement. He will also get the word out to lots of folks that get his emails. Get your list compiled with cert #'s as soon as you can.
All of us will be on the lookout and hope for a good ending.
...sorry to hear of this most unsettling news, lloyd. i hope things are resolved asap. now i'm going to double-check my surveillance equipment.

OK, I'm going to apologize for my "crisco and a bolwtorch" response from earlier. I tend to react emotionally and violently to violations such as this, but nobody deserves to have crisco smeared all over their body and burned off. But in all seriousness, this act simultaneously sickens and disgusts me. This seems to me analogous to someone stealing the blood from your veins. Reprehensible!
One bright spot in this is that your coins are unique enough to be easily identified, so the thieves will have very little chance of liquidating them once word spreads. Best wishes in successfully recovering them.

What you did in the first 48 hours is going to be paramount in the recovery of the stolen items. Unfortunately the police are over whelmed with solving violet crimes, new and old, they have little or no time for the recovery of stolen property.
I just hope in the near future you can recover your treasures.
its very sad that people are this low down ...just recently we had alot of break ins in my local town i went and got a security system ....thankfully the scum was caught and looking at 25years now lucky for him he didnt come in my house as they would have been taking him out without a head from my 12 gauge
I am very sorry to hear that this happened. We just try to enjoy a hobby, but with the money involved there are always people out there that find a way to ruin it. I wish you the best of luck in the safe return of your collection.

Was your collection insured ??? >>
He indicated No insurance. Just curious but everytime one of these stories is posted, there's no insurance? Why is this? >>
Because, honestly, coin insurance is a ripoff >>
How so? The premiums are usually small. >>
The premiums are only small if you keep your coins at the bank safe deposit box... and in that case is the insurance doing much good. The rates are still cheap if everything is kept at home in one of the insurance company's approved safes... but most homes don't have that anyways and usually when the coins are stolen they aren't in those safes. To get insurance that covers the coins wherever they are and even if they aren't kept securely is not cheap.
I feel incredibly bad for you, but optimistic you'll get some/all of them back. You've got pics, #'s, and uncommon coins, I hope all the local and regional coin and pawn shops cooperate.
Not in my experience. When I looked into insurance to cover material both at home and in my safety deposit box, it was going to be 2-3% of the insured value per annum. That adds up in a big fat hurry.
Contrast this with stamp collection insurance, which runs 0.3% per annum.
Years ago, a fellow Jefferson nickel collector thought someone had stolen a box of certified slabs from his place. Turned out that the box somehow fell behind a drawer in his dresser.
