You've got some really high end coins and you had photos of many of them. Post a list, and I'm sure board members will be on the lookout for your coins.

    So sorry to hear this!

Please be sure to contact the Numismatic Crime Information Center. They will work with your local PD, and may help improve the odds of recovery tremendously.

Same thing happened to me a year ago. The guys on this board were instrumental on helping me recover my coins. Make sure you post as many of the serial numebers from the certified coins here ASAP. I hope you recover your coinsimage

    What I did:
    1. filed police report
    2. Contacted NCIC
    3. Went to all local coin and pawn shops (gave them lists of stolen coins/cert #'s
    4. Reported theft with serial #'s of certified coins to this site
    5. Within 3 days of alerting members on this site, the members here alerted me they had recovered my coins.

It's quite a coincidence that you were robbed in the short time you had the coins at your house. I would be looking very closely at anyone that knew you had removed the coins from the bank and taken them to your house. Including bank employees.

I'll recommend that you edit your profile here to eliminate your given name. Use a pseudonym. The combination of your real name and other widespread personal information could have been easily used to locate you as well as your residence for surveillance.

Sounds like someone you know got you good. What are the odds that the day you retrieve your coins from the SDB your house gets broken into and they are stolen?

Seems like someone knew you were going to this coin show and the whole situation seems premeditated. I hope you have you coins insured because you have some of the best Morgans on the market! Which would make it hard for the thief to sell them because most are uniquely toned.

Very very sorry to here this. I would loose it if this happened to me, and my collection is a tiny percent compared to yours sir.
Let's hope they find the SOB's who did this asap. If the thief is smart I'm sure he will put the coins away until this dies down and then try to sell privately or crack the coins out and resubmit or sell raw... lets hope it doesn't go this far.

Every year at this time is when the snakes come out of the grass... its a shame really. I wish you the best of luck

    oh man...i am so sorry.

i hate to say this, but it's someone you know. my dad (rip) used to be police for 26 years. he told me almost always when someone is a victim of a robbery at their home, it's done by someone that knows them.

case in point...my wife's parents were victims once...by someone in their own family.

i hope you recover your coins.

My stomach hurts just looking at the coins that were stolen... was anything else of value stolen from you house??? If not then you know you were specifically targeted.

This just makes me sick. I can't stand people who steal!

Again best of luck to you.

OMG, I am so sorry for your loss. I have looked at all your posts
with your newps and really enjoyed looking over the images you
    had BluCCphotos do for you.

I have a hollow feeling in the pit of my stomach... I'd be devastated
as well. I only have a few low value things on display at home - and
three SDB's packed to overflowing !

If you suspect your EX's new boyfriend, have the police questioned him
and her ? Again, my heart goes out to you !

Best of luck in retrieving the coins back !

That really stinks, no matter how angry you get do not attempt to recover on your own, make sure the police are involved. I took matters into my own hands once and I ended up being the one in cuffs.

Regardless of who stole them, they are going to need a "fence". I would be watching Ebay, and contacting all local coin dealers -- I'm sure you already have done that. If there is anything even slightly positive about this, it's that the coins are not common and should be readily identified even if cracked out. Locating one of them will likely lead to locating them all.

Probably not much of a consolation, but the thieves will probably never get more than a fraction of the worth of those lovely pieces. If it was who you suspect, trying to get a good price for them may be what trips them up. Good luck anyhow, what a loss!!

Terrible news and I'm hoping you the best of luck in recovering them.

I agree it sounds like an inside job.

But the encouraging news is you have everything documented, you have all of us on the lookout and it sounds like you have a very good idea of the culprits.
