I always admired his coins, and had a few nice pm's with him. Never had the pleasure to meet him in person.

As a collector of Commems, waaaayyy before the Doily thing, I always looked to his posts and set as the unobtainable but highly admired . .

He was a very nice guy. My wife even got to meet him too back then.
Then we got to meet every couple of years as he was an active collector as well as frequent poster right here.
This saddens me.
but I've followed his posts on this Forum and the wonderful sets he built
over the years.
He was a true gentleman and had a great love of the hobby.
It is very sad to hear of his passing.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
One of my favorite coins is ex Scher. It means even more to me now
I'm stunned..............R.I.P. Bruce

As a newbie, this is the first person in the hobby that passed that I have spoken too. Very sad.

RIP, Mr. Scher.
I am so very sorry to hear this.
Peace and comfort to his family and friends at this time.
<< <i>In the world of classic commems, the guy was royalty. He will be sadly missed by his friends and family, as well as casual collectors like me who was amazed by the quality he went after when collecting. >>
my thoughts and prayers to his family
very sad indeed
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

I remember much friendly competition with him over the 3CN proof registry years ago, much negotiating and much fairness and generosity on his part.
I'm so sorry to hear this, and want to share in the Board's expression of sincere condolences to his family.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!

<< <i>Bruce was one of the nicest, kindest, most humble gentleman I have ever met. And, I will never forget the time he actually allowed me to drive his Ferrari. Let me add patience to that list of great traits. Bruce was also one of the greatest businessmen I have ever met ... self taught mind you. I will always remember the time we spent together. RIP my friend.

A friend of mine used to work for him, a couple of guys started monkeying around with his car and it backfired, blowing out the service bay windows, he was also a former customer of mine. RIP Bruce!
I am shocked and deeply saddened by this news.
Bruce was one of the first fellow collectors who welcomed
me when I first joined these forums. His encouragement
when I was working on my 144 Piece Commem collection
will always be remembered.
My deepest condolences to Bruce's Family and Friends.
