Star Spangled Banner Dollar

I rec'd the BU Star Spangled Banner dollar today and was very impressed with the design, particularly the obverse.
With so many uninspired designs emanating from the Mint, it nice to see that when they try they can produce a truly beautiful coin.

You know, I very rarely buy from the mint (Jefferson's liberty and UHR for myself, sometimes proof ASEs as gifts is about all I've ordered ) but also got one of these star spangled dollars in Unc (rather than proof) because of the design.

I agree. It is better than most modern designs.

I'd much rather see that circulate as a $1 coin than the presidential ones, even though it couldn't be silver.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find that approx 60% of all the modern commems, beat the classic ones in beauty, design and originality. Cudos to the Mint & keep up the good work.

The sale of these ended today. The Unc version will have a mintage under 45K. That should keep the price of it around $50 I'm thinking.
