I gave some coins to my office girl to sell on fee bay so she can make some extra $$ to help her out. But she tells me about every thing or every time someing go wrong. Like she sell a coin to a customer and he ask for a discount after he rec's the coin. He tells her the coin is not as nice as the pic shown on fee bay so he wants $20 off the sell price. Well I told her dont do it. I told her to tell the customer if they dont like the coin please return it for a full refund. Now was that the right thing to do? or give them the $20 off it was a $45 coin in a gen pcgs holder?image

As a rule you don't renegotiate the price on an item after it has sold, I think there is a whole group of buyers who operate using the " it doesn't........ or it isn't" buying method, have her tell him to return the piece promptly for a refund.

I have had that happen once on a coin that sold on a make offer listing. I will not do partial refunds.

ensure your return policy states buyer pays return shipping and seller's initial out of pocket shipping cost will be deducted from refund. This cuts down on the window shoppers looking for a free in hand preview at the seller's expense.

Governments can print currency. Only the people can print faith in it — and they’re running low on ink.

I agree with yellowkid, return coin for full refund or nothing else. The buyer knows the price when he paid for it.

I agree 100%. Depending on the circumstances, I may block such a Buyer from bidding on future items.

It's not happened to me but I know I would handle it just as everyone here says: don't negotiate, have the buyer return the coin for a refund.

    I don't care if he want's 5 cents or $50 off. It's wrong.

I'd also put the buyer on my ebay blocked bidder list.

I'm only an occasional seller but when I do list, I put in the auction, "No partial refunds or discounts after auction closes. Item must be returned in full".

Then I wouldn't have any discussion regarding any partial refund or discount.

I agree... total return/refund or nothing at all. I like Ceephus method of stating it in the conditions....Cheers, RickO
