The Legend-Morphy Dec 2012 auction
is posted.
As expected, it is a quantum leap improved from the previous sale. Great work and props to the Legend Morphy team!

Kudos to Legend!
The most important question - what about the auction buffet - I asked Julie about this at Baltimore, and she's got it covered
The interface though, has some "features" which are major pains -> You can't open the individual lots in their own window very easily. This makes piecing out the lots you want to further inspect take twice as long.
Also I don't like that when you click the "next page" link it loads it with javascript and keeps you at the bottom of the page. This means another needless scroll to get to the top where you generally want to start.
<< <i>Minimum bid on the coins I'm interested in are reasonable. Are these the actual reserve prices or just the "minimum bid?"

EDIT: From Legend-> there are a small number of coins with reserves which will be posted by Dec 1.
Also from Legend -> There will be light food during the auction.

Good job by all involved. I hope the auction site prospers and I think it will be interesting to see how the reserves and bids turn out.
"Look up, old boy, and see what you get." -William Bonney.
I'm a big fan of the descriptions which are straight-forward and honest, both in positive and neutral respects. The coin hobby needs more honesty and to let the coins stand for themselves.
I really hope this is a success and can be a sign of things to come for coin sales in general.
Did the link go bad for everyone?
Where's the search function - how is one supposed to find a Doily??
They have a view with 2 coin columns that is accessible via clicking the little gallery button at the top of the search results directly under the name of the category and next to the words "View As…"
"Seu cabra da peste,
"Sou Mangueira......."
<< <i>Nice overall. There are a few errors such as the 1896 25c is a 1896-S and the 1870 Pattern attributed to Charles Barber should be attributed to William not Charles. But overall these are minor items and I think Legend Morphy are on the right track for what they are attempting to do. Getting better!
There's also a 1903 proof Lincoln.

I like the "action" of the bidding process. Essential information, quickly updated, very state-of-the-art.
Edit: Oh, and I really like the CoinFacts data, too. Good stuff!

That is very rare coin. MJ
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
<< <i>Amazing that this site is so much better than Stacks Bowers and it all happened in a short period of time relatively speaking. >>
I was thinking the same but did not want to say it.
<< <i>Nice video by Don Willis on the PCGS home page >>
Enjoyed the video. I did notice that there were three letters he would not say.

I wonder, if your initials were those letters, would that disqualify you from working at PCGS?
and this one...
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.

Good luck. Looking forward to seeing the results.

<< <i>Either many coins didn't sell or their website is malfunctioning. I can't see what happened to the S-119 1796 Draped bust cent, lot 2. >>
Looks like they removed all of the lots that sold from the site. Prices realized aren't posted. So it looks like we will have to wait until that happens.

<< <i>So, what is the verdict? I looked through some prices realized, but not all. Nothing really seemed surprising, either on prices or sell-through.

I was happy with the one lot that I bid own and won.

The only change I'd suggest to them for next time is to have a few slam-dunk sale coins to start the auction off with a frenzy. This time, the first few lots had high reserves and didn't sell. That put a little damper on energy in the room to start. They did have decent floor bidding later.
Overall, I think it's great that 4 of these PCGS shows each year will now have a nice auction.
<< <i>Once again I didn't receive a catalog, they sent one last minute last time when I complained, but nothing in time this time. I still hope they send one out to me so I have a record of their awesome auctions but next go around would love to receive a catalog prior to the auction.
It helps to buy something to ensure they come.
