It goes both ways. The public should do the same when they're at coin shows or in coin shops.

Over the years I have evolved away from being fractious with unreasonable customers to being polite with everyone even if some don't deserve it. I find maturity and a sense of humor helps.
I have seen both sides of the table behaving in a surly, contentious manner....I would say, although I have not kept records, it seemed more often to originate on the collector side - followed quickly (usually) by the dealer side. Cheers, RickO
Several months ago, I went to the Westford Coin Show here in Mass, and was looking at some coins from a dealer. He has one I was ready to buy and pay his price. As I was looking over some of his other coins, he got irritated at some questions I asked. So, I said thanks and have a nice day. He asked if I was going to buy the other coin I had held out and I told him not any more. If he cannot handle people asking questions, then I do not need his coins.
All dealers who want to make a living off collectors should restrain their asperity. And vice versa.
Poor delicate thing. If you want to avoid dealing with douches, go live in the woods and meditate on your own personal "inner douche". We all have one. Once you've made friends, come back to Society; it'll go much easier for you.
Asperity? Moi?
PS. Tell me how it works out. Some have recommended I do the same thing.

No need for me to google it. There's something happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear.
And, technically, it's a Buffalo Springfield song.

I believe this applies equally to Coin Collectoring.
