Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

They give sci-fi enthusiasts a run but at the very least females regularly attend their conventions. When's the last time you ever saw anybody remotely attractive at a coin show who went on her own accord?

Are trying to say that an overweight, slightly disheveled, socially inept, lightly inebriated, peer-pressured, fast & fatty food addict is no longer "attractive" or "remotely" interesting??

Oh well, I will look elsewhere for appreciation of my "special" qualities...........

    Who?

And I would have to some slightly nerdy. When I ran into a coworker at my regular B&M I felt like I was almost gonna get booted out with all the info I was giving him. Glad the dealer and I were on very good terms as I stated I wouldnt buy from him or sell to him....Dealer laughed and said "Hes all yours."

    Edited to add.

Ive had some people be quite impresse with the knowledge we have. The history of US coinage is the history of our country and they relate to each other in so many ways that you pick up over time. Ive only been a serious collector for five years now but have learned a vast amount of US/World history I didnt pick up in High School.

Earth people can sense the psychic emanations of various types of dweebs and nerds. image

My best disguise to avoid detection: I wear a plaid sport coat over my mustard-stained shirt. My polka-dot bow-tie really pulls together the entire ensemble. Some sense something odd, but as long as can pass myself off as an old white Urkel, no one really wants to know anything about the specifics.

I talk to others about my skydiving. They are fascinated.image

I prefer to consider my self a nerd on the inside. Most who look at me would never think I was a coin collector. I like it better that way. When I chose to let my nerd-dom show, it is usually around like minded collectors.

Steve Jobs and Bill Gates raised "Nerds" to a level where others accept our superiority. For further clarification ask Dr. Sheldon Cooper.

I still remember a fad that happened in the early 2000's that started in Korea and spread its way over to Silicon Valley. It became vogue for men to dress like and have the same haircut as Bill Gates. Consequently the rate of sex the those respective areas dropped down to zero. Mercifully that trend faded away rather quickly.

Sorry but go to any coin show and what you see isn't all that encouraging.

Sad but true. Perhaps coin shows should start having door prizes for the sartorial elite.
