"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. The terrible depression of 1857 was very destructive to lives in the North. Imagine thousands New Yorkers howling in the street for bread! (recall "Gangs of New York" from this period) The South didn't suffer at all during this depression, leading some to declare the southern economy immune to the excesses in the North. The idea of "King Cotton" arose. Perhaps this planted the idea that they could survive and thrive on their own.

I don't see any quarters posted yet. You might notice that the slab looks a bit strange. This one fell on top of an electric baseboard while I was photographing a group of coins about 10 years ago. I found out the hard way that slabs have a fairly low melting point. Fortunately, I now live in a warmer climate.
And here is a rare medalet that gives us of view of General Joseph "Fighting Joe" Hooker. Legend has that his name gave us a popular term for the "oldest profession" because ladies who practiced it followed his camp during the war.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
