Howard Spindel, who is a member here and may stop by to offer his personal opinion of your coin, created this excellent web site with photos and diagnostics for all of the known 1883 over 2 shield nickels. I didn't take the time to look through them for a match to your coin, but I see enough potential in your pics that I think it would be worthwhile for you to look through them yourself.

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.
"Keep in mind that most of what passes as numismatic information is no more than tested opinion at best, and marketing blather at worst. However, I try to choose my words carefully, since I know that you guys are always watching." - Joe O'Connor
It's really hard to be positive from your photos. A big blow-up of the date would be very helpful.
However, I think you have an FS-013.1 1883/2, early die stage with almost no die cracks. I think I can see a die crack off the bottom left leaf that looks like the correct shape. The date position is an excellent match, and I think I can see the foot of the 2 where I would expect to see it. Please don't run off thinking you've got a for sure 1883/2 until you post photos sufficient for me to verify this.

Thanks for your opinions on this coin...here are 2 more photos...they show more of what I think is a 2 under the 3, extending just to the left of the 3....

At least you didn't post the usual 1882 with the blobby 2! I enjoy seeing a coin that actually has a chance of being an overdate.
