New website feature

I don't know if you've noticed but our crack IT staff added a new feature to our website.
On every coin listed in the PCGS Price Guide there is a little SHOP tag. If you click it you will see up to 20 ebay listings for the exact same coin.
If your are on the Price Guide looking up a specific coin try the SHOP tag and see what you find.

i noticed that a while back and thought the cross-promoting was really nice for the convenience of customers.
very clean and not distracting at all
saw the cross-promoting in collector's corner as well with the auction links
.
Coin Rarities Online
I noticed when searching for a silver commem it is not date or mint mark specific
and when searching for a date it is not mint mark specific
What does the Secure scan have to say about that
That is pretty cool. Now I wonder if you could get a hold of eBay's API server info and they a hold of yours so when you enter in a PCGS Certification number, it ports over info like population, price, registry sets it could fall into (or even better if it's already in a registry set)...
The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

Are they links to only eBay auctons?
Actually there are up to 10 exact coin matches and 10 category matches.
I'm interested in what you all think. I think bringing current real world listings could be very helpful.
I had seen it last week and thought it was a good idea but needed other places to
shop like the links in the Registry Sets section. If I was a PCGS Preferred Dealer I think
my feelings would be hurt just a little by linking only to eBay. Like you say "at the moment "
it's a good start.

Hope you are feeling well.
By the way, any plans to let the dealers on Collectors Corner have a CAC flag? Right now the only way to see if a coin is CAC is to open up the link and read the text, and everyone does it a bit differently so it is hard to make that work well.

It's refreshing to see that PCGS recognizes ebay transactions as "real world." Great Job.
My only suggestions would be to allow the viewer to expand the popup window to full screen size and if possible have a button in the popup that will take viewer to the full search results in ebay (as if he did the search from ebay).
What is the criteria for the listings chosen during the search?
PS: Do PCGS members get preference with their ebay listings?

I don't think so but it was neat to see four sellers that I know from this forum all of us selling the same coin when I did the check of the feature.
BTW I think we all had it priced above what the guide price was at. Looking for a upswing or just accounting for eBay's cut.
Whats the "Search" criteria based upon?
Why doesn't it screen out coins graded by other TPG's?
I guess time will tell on its usefulness. Right?

The search feature did not pick up one of my Early Dollar auctions, but I noticed by revising my item description to include all the descriptive terms used in the price guide (i.e. 'small date', 'large letters', etc) it got picked up immediately by the SHOP feature. So...first tip to EBAY users, make sure your EBAY listing description contains all of the PCGS descriptive terms associated with that particular coin.
The 'sort priority' programming DID NOT appear to automatically drop down NGC coins to bottom of list...which I think is a credit to the integrity of the feature. I would encourage you NOT to adopt software that would automatically put NGC coins at bottom of list. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Try clicking on the 1912 Matte Proof Lincoln RED link, it just sort of freezes up
I think this needs to have a better (more clear) pop up window when nothing is found ... like a window that says "NO MATCHES FOUND" or something
The way it is now, the whole page just sort of freezes and gray's out

Part of the fun with coins is hunting for it, not just clicking right too it.
Okay it's not that bad, but I like the challenge of finding things myself.
<< <i>Sorry to be the negative one, but I don't like it. It ruins the hunt just a little bit more. I use to like to find Antiques now you can you just click a button on the internet and there it is.

Constructive criticism:
1. I can't stand pop-up windows. I'd prefer results in a new tab or browser window.
2. Not sure how it's coded, but it'd be cool if the results had the ebay search terms so results can be refined by the user.
I'm waiting for the "in house eBay bashers" to make their usual comments.

I appreciate the effort as well. If we are going to nit pick, along the same lines, when I clicked 1914 MPL, I got listings for MS 1914's and 1914 D and S mints as well. A small glitch but a glitch nonetheless.

1. I would like to see an icon rather than SHOP
2. Can the software be fine tuned...currently if I search for a MS coin the results bring back PR coins?
Jon
when there are no matches for the selection - the software offers "similar" coins. The only thing 'similar' is that they are coins - they had nothing to do with my search criteria. Better experience would "at least" be in the category being searched !
thx for the improvement and opportunity to provide feedback.

Images will not register in search engines, whereas text links such as "SHOP" register and improve SEO. For this reason, I'd be surprised if they changed it to a graphic button.
Likewise, if you have a website with your personal phone and/or email listed and are tired of receiving spam messages, replace those text lines with graphics. Humans will still be able to read your phone and email, but spam robots will not

We're still working to improve matching on Proofs. We'll have an update on this very soon but there is a big problem that we can't fix.
Apparently many ebay listings do not designate Proof via the Strike Type parameter. If you want your proof coins to appear be sure to check Proof under Strike Type when you are listing the coin.
when they finish, have them take a look at the "preview" feature when posting a message to the forum.
