A really gemmy coin, with the only issue to note is a slight scuff on the cheek.

This group was much tougher to me. I'm still aghast at 64 CAM on the Frankie. Not my series either, but I cannot fathom how that coin didn't grade higher -- perhaps something not visible in the photos?

I thought that the coin was really nice, and I do not remember any issues that I could see.

3 for 7 on this group which is better than 1 for 6. Now 4 for 11.

That Franky really through me. Thought it was a 67 DCAM or at worst 66 based on photo.
And this time the MS65 on that $20 Lib seemed on the money. Not as scuffy as the typical specimen. Some high pt discoloration might bother some people at this grade.

    not quite, mkman!

On the proof Franklin, I still think that was an easy 66CAM, it looked just like the photos. 64?????

On the $20 Lib, I though the hits on the cheek and the various discolorations were just way too significant to get an MS65 from me. Also, the reverse fields were marked up like crazy, more so than the photos show, but not as badly as the $10 above. There's also a big hit on the obverse above the head between the stars and the rims were quite banged up too. Remember, all of these coins were in edgeview holders which show off the rims that the older holders don't let you see. The obverse fields were pretty clean though, but that just isn't enough to make it a gem. Sure, maybe my grade of MS62 was slightly harsh, but I think a 65 on that coin is a gift. If I saw it again I'd probably be on the fence between 63 and 64.

I also don't like that IHC as a 65RB. A 65RB coin shouldn't have dark splotchy areas like the reverse has and even the obverse to some degree.

On the Lincoln, I nearly called that a 63RD because it had so many issues. It was definitely RD, but with the spotting, the hits, the fingerprint and generally poor eye appeal, I nearly said 63RD, but it had better luster than the photos show so I went with 64

Wow, that frankie looks 66 all day. Perhaps hidden hairlines?

My 2 cents on the Franklin would be the spot in the right obverse field. I've never done better than 64 on any proof with a spot like that...though my guess was also 66 CAM.

I was 4.5 for 7 on this group...missed the RD on the Lincoln.

I wasn't at LB, so I couldn't play, but there were similar coins at the ANA, including a few head-scratchers. I'm assuming the hairlines that dictate proof grades up to 66 aren't visible on the Franklin. There were two different proof Franklins at ANA, a 64DCAM and a 65CAM and I got both of those right. Going by the pictures alone, of those pictured here, the two I would have most likely gotten wrong are the Morgan dollar, which I would have graded 64, and the Lincoln cent, which I would have called RB. Fun game, PCGS. Keep it up! (At least until I win. image)

Is that a milk spot in the right obverse field? If so it would account for the grade.
