First Cent to Mars!
In case you missed it...

Not sure if any toning occurring would be considered AT/NT...
(Btw, tech savvy people can follow the mars rover exploits on @marscuriosity)
it kind of boggles my mind that 1,000-10,000 years from now this coin will be on display at a museum (alien or otherwise
)

The specific coin, provided by MAHLI's (Mars Hand Lens Imager ) principal investigator, Ken Edgett, is a 1909 "VDB" penny. That was the first year Lincoln pennies were minted and the centennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth. The VDB refers to the initials of the coin's designer, Victor D. Brenner, which are on the reverse side. Brenner based the coin's low-relief portrait of Lincoln on a photograph taken Feb. 9, 1864, by Anthony Berger in the Washington, D.C. studio of Mathew Brady.

It would be nice to have a special "Mars" TPG holder for 1909 VDB cents.

<< <i>I think a Roman coin with god Mars (assuming there is such a thing) would have been a bit neater. Then again, with his penchant for war, maybe not such a good idea

sending up a little disc with a human with a spear, or spearing another human might not be the best first message...

Hello
Even the best of messages can get messed up. Look at Voyager/V'ger in Star Trek The Motion Picture...or Nomad looking for Jackson Roykirk in Star Trek the original series
Best wishes,

Having two coins.... one protected, and one exposed to the elements would have been neat to see the effect on the copper..... maybe a time lapse?
