Despite this, I am not all that anxious to pair my 1795 FH half and dollar or 1801 and 1802 halves or 1880 and 1880-S $20 Libs, as examples. What if I decide to sell one?

1908-S and 1909-S Indian Cents - it would be the complete collection of San Francisco Indian Cents.
1909 VDB Lincoln and 1909 (non-VDB) Lincoln Cent
1909-S Indian Cent and 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent - two big key dates from the same city and the same year.
1892 & 1893 Columbian Halves
That said, I don't think I'd really ever use this new double holder as I'd rather have the coins individually in case I wanted to sell one of them and upgrade, but didn't want to sell the other. Having them stuck together can be problematic in a situation like that I think. Similarly, when trying to sell the pair, I'm sure some buyers will love one of the coins but not the other...

<< <i>The two Pan - PAC $50 gold coins would be cool, BUT the inability to separate the two coins would be very inconvenient given their high values. >>
I would agree and further state that it might devalue the pair because the high buyer of one coin will not necessarily be the high buyer of the other, at some point in time. I guess you could always break them up again to sell, but it is a hassle each time.
I think that it's great for things like the recently release 2-coin SF SAE set or perhaps for a proof and Unc same date gold buffalo or AGE or pairs like that.

The original presentation case and capsules are really cool, but to have them together in a slab and graded (at least the coin) might be a consideration. Add to that the 2000 bi-metallic coins and a few gold spouses and a guy could end up with a a LARGE box of 20
There was also a new release in 2007 ? iirc, which were two half-ounce platinum coins. Maybe any 2 coin set would fit.
George Washington 2 coin , quarter ounce gold coins ... Unc and Proof ? A myriad of possibilites.
Each to their own. The mind is a terrible thing to waste.

That would be okay if there was a built in handle.

I like the idea of MS and Proof versions of same coin. The $5 gold commemoratives would be an example of a set that would look nice.. Spouse Golds maybe, especially the first year, common as dirt ones where the values are pretty much bullion plus a fraction.
My first idea was a 1921 Morgan and 1921 Peace Dollar.
1878CC Trad Dollar and 1878CC Morgan Dollar would be nice.
1866S $5 Gold No Motto & 1866S $5 Gold with motto; same idea with $10 Gold or $20 Gold
1907 $20 Gold Double Liberty and 1907 $20 St. Gaudens
Matching graded, matched look Bust Half & Bust Dollar from same year would be cool...but pretty expensive. Might be worth doing if the coins really matched...that would be really cool to see together;
a cheaper deal would be a nice FBL Franky with an awsome DCAM Franky from the same year, one of the cheapy years like '63 or '56 or some year where both FBL's and DCAM's are common enough not to cost an arm and a leg;
you get the idea.
