Please Guess the Grade of this Morgan Dollar

ajaanajaan Posts: 18,047 ✭✭✭✭✭
I want to see if the collectors here agree with the grade assigned by PCGS. 1880-S with a slight rainbow. I'll post an image of the slab once there is a good sample of guesses. Thanks.

64 would be my guess, although I wouldn't rule out 65.

    64, and very likely PL

They are really tough on that date and mintmark so I would say 63.

hmmm . . . I guess grading by an image isn't the best idea. I'll let a few others chime in before showing the slab.

The reverse has too much cartwheel for a PL designation. MS64+

I guess I should have read all the posts before I responded! I think it is a MS66 with no PL.

Mine is last year. I don't invest alot in these services. But the PCGS price guide is at $420.That's a pretty wide divergence.

Correction: $385. God,prices are crashing lately!

My guess (I know I'm too late) was 65 and I was going to make clear I felt it would not get the PL designation. This despite the frost - the fields just don't reflect. I was going to say I couldn't really tell how bad/minor the marks were along Liberty's nose line with my guess that they were relatively minor.

Edited to add: I do like the coin and am surprised at many of the replies.

    It's a 5 all day long, but I definitely don't see a 6.

Could you please point me to these auctions. The lowest I found was $296.

My guess was 65 all day long with no chance for 66, but then you see what I know.
