I picked up this bag at a rinky-dink bank out by me. I stopped in on a whim and they had it sitting in the back. Result to be posted in an hour or so

10 90% 16 40%. Also included in the mix are some San francisco mintmarks.
Hopefully you'll get some nice coins that are album worthy.

Amount of true uncirculated coins: 0
Amount of money in the bag: $ 501.50 (Had a Prez. dollar in it + xtra half
Number of errors: None (No FG, die breaks, struck-thru, grease,etc)
Amount of 90% silver: None
Amount of 40% silver: $ 7.00 (14) or $ 56.17 melt
From what I hearing on other forums your results could be considered average. In my area all I see are CWR's for halves and the results vary widely either a roll that is a bonanza or zip. But I keep on looking.

fun had a lil reward to it
I'm running into problems where if I order coin (IE, $ 100 of boxed pennies) or bring back coins (such as the halves I don't want) I get charged. Charges vary. If you order coins it's generally .10 to .15 "per roll". That means if I want a $ 25 box of pennies I have to pay .15 per roll, lol. Yes, a very crazy %. I've been ordering $ 400. in pennies each week for the last year and was never charged. They just changed their policy and now I cant "order" any coins for free. I've been forced to get 2 boxes here... 4 there... at different banks that will just sell them to me if they have extra. As far as costs, when a bag gets filled and leaves the bank (IE, $ 50 plastic bag of pennies) the bank will incur a cost between $ 1.00 - $ 3.00 per. So, in the meantime, I've been running around trying to find a bank that I can at least bring my coins to for free. Just to backtrack a little bit, some additional info. about coinage at banks:
- The bank orders coins that come from the Fed and brought to them by armored cars. The bank is charged for the coins that they have delivered. They distribute coins normally per needs of the customer.
- When banks send out bags to the fed, the bank will get paid once the fed weighs each bag.
The last half dollar bag I bought from a different bank ($1000 bag) I insisted on opening up and counting because the last bag I bought was short $ 68 which ate into my profits... but that bag (clear) was full of silver and I was a kid in a candy store lol. Anyway that crazy bag had 6, 90% halves and 184, 40% in it so I didn't miss the $ 68, lol. Anyway, back to that bag, after counting it all up it was short $ 214. So that's why the fed weighs it because counting machines can be WAY off.
Finally, the new bank will take all of my coins for free. They distribute them mostly to a mall that is nearby. They will go right back to them.

This bank does not use the normal plastic bags that most banks do because nothing gets sent out. They told me that they roll their own coin at the bank (I could hear it running when I was there actually). I told them that I'd return their bags when I'm called to come pick up coins.
For 37 weeks (I stopped recently) I went through $ 8000 dollars worth of boxed halves from the bank per week. Other times I'd buy bags and or buy some additional boxes if I had time. In boxes alone, I sorted 16,000 coins by hand a week or 592,000 half dollars total looking for errors and silver. I'd estimate an additional 40,000 halves on top of that for a total of about 630,000 coins. Over the course of that time period, It produced the following:
90% silver: $ 47.00 or 94 coins (sold above $ 12.00)
40% silver: $ 278.00 or 556 coins (sold above $ 4.00)
The above figures came to a profit of roughly $ 3,500 (which were all sold at coin shows). At an average of :15 minutes to go through one $500 box, I had approx. 160 hours of my time into it, which would mean that I made $ 21.87 per hour in my free time (on silver alone). Income from error coins I did not keep track of but would est. to be between $ 800 - $ 1000 or up to $ 28.12/hr. I'd open 5-6 boxes a day up until the day I needed to bring them all back and get a whole new batch.

I just went through $5,500 worth of half's. Found 2 90% (1 Franklin - 1 1964), and 2 40%.
The name is LEE!
But now that bank is opening a branch RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY HOUSE...so watch out!
I'm tempted to put in a standing order for a box every other week!
