What do you all think about Coin Talk?
I'm just curious. I'm a member on a few forums and would like to know what others think of the site.

But there is knowledgeable folks on there just as there is on here.
Nice thing is threads dont get pushed down as quickly as they do here.

type2,CCHunter.
But then again this forum software is older and has alot of issues
nothing
i mean nothing compares to these forums here

Id actully agree with that , for the real skinny i don't think this place can be beat.Last time i looked at cointalk one of the mods had blocked photobucket saying it was spreading viruses....that upset a few people but even in the face of technical advice given by their own members it continued , how long..dunno.This is the only coin forum i use, tried'em all.

Possibly, but the US Coin forums is no man's land and anything goes.

That I agree with & thats why I ask questions I may have regarding U.S. coins of mine on here then over there.
Plus the u.s. coins here are prettier to look at

I don;t know that I agree with that. CT can be a fun place to hangout but it's susceptible to the same problems and posters that are found over here.
Image posting is a snap and doesn't reuire a 3rd party Image Hosting site to post reasonable images. There are size limitations, but no where near the 50kb limit set over here.
There are knowledgeable posters and there are "self assumed" knowledgeable posters. There are newbies and there are experienced collectors. There are young posters and there are older posters.
It's a cool place.

The question was asked on a "US Coin Forum" and answered in that context...with no offense intended to Tom. : D
<< <i>I find it seems to have more young and new collectors than this forum.
Excellent news and in keeping with my AA assessment. When they are ready for the bigs, send them over here.

Quite the opposite I find the inquiring minds to be a breath of fresh air over there.
I actually only went over there last year when things around here got to be rather dull.

I can attest to that with a first-hand account of attempted extortion

This site also has much better buy/sell forums.
I don't like the pm feature here as much and don't understand why the default is off.
CT has many more beginner/basic questions but feels more welcoming to newer members because of this.
I visit both daily and they both seem to serve a purpose.
<< <i>All forums have pros and cons... I'm a member over there too as are many folks here on CU.
Illini has it about right. I like CU a lot but i still visit CoinTalk and ATS for changes of pace. I am always amazed by people on one forum critcizing another forum, as it seems unnecessary. I follow this forum most closely but there are plenty of reasons to read the others. As one good example, Mark Feld posts ATS and on CoinTalk and cannot post here.

<< <i>I enjoyed BNB, was good popcorn material when online & bored. >>
I had little patience for some hyper & artistic kid who played coins with his parents money, he wasn't even close to a value add. His time and money would have been better spent with therapy.

Good point, his drama was only mildly entertaining for an attention '....' Let's talk about COINS ... good or bad coins. Not people.

Who is/was BNB ? Now that you brought the subject up, there just might be some serious learning to be had in this.

Let someone else explain it.
It's not fair to compare the place to CU. Grade school vs. college. But it's not a bad place to begin.

I have no idea, it was before my time anyway. I know some found refuge here or ATS.

Coin refugees aimlessly wandering the ether. Quite sad actually. MJ
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
<< <i>The nice thing about that forum as I remember was there was a mod called GDJETW or something who simply knows everything and will not hesitate to let you know that. >>
I've heard that nothing has changed on that matter

If you look at the join date of the posters you will see that is true. Most have been there just a year or two. The more experienced posters have left. There's reasons for that. There are a very few very knowledgeable posters but the rest is just childish chatter and arguments over insignificant matters.

LOL. Ah yes, Mr. Alphabet. He knows all. It doesn't matter the subject.

Oh and the photo posting sux. You have to hoover over each picture just to see the full size picture. Why not just show the full size picture in the first place? Idiotic.
<< <i>What do you all think about Coin Talk? >>
I don't, but maybe I should.
It's not that I have anything against it. I just have traditionally spent so much time here that in the past I never went much anywhere else.
Lately I've been becoming a presence on forumancientcoins.com, because that's where my collecting interests are increasingly headed.
I did go peek over at Coin Talk the other day and on a whim, decided to try my usual username and password combo, and whaddya know, it worked. I must have signed up over there at some point. Maybe I should go poke around some more there. I know there have been times when even on a large site like this my sometimes manic posting can get tiresome. I guess if I were to spread myself out a little bit more thinly and lightly, over several different forums, it might be a good thing for me and everyone else, huh?
I haven't even posted "Across The Street" very much.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

On the photos you can post them the same as here but you have to fiddle with the steps.
