Text

Hope I got the link right.

I used to collect frankies with color; post 1958 coins are very scarce with real color.

This thread is a little spamy, but I say give him the benefit of the doubt
  • I think it ok. He probably means no harm. Lets cut him some slack.

Looks familiar. Isn't that one of the coins TonedRarities was selling a yr or 2 ago? Originated from the Fairtraderz 1960-D hoard?

Sister coin featured in this thread?

From the comments, I seem to have made a bad post. Sorry.

Was my error linking to a live auction? If so, how do you properly call attention to a cool/toned coin for discussion? Or must you wait till the auction ends?

Thanks for the link georgiacop50. I thought I remembered the Fairtraderz hoard look.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I have no problem with the OP linking to a live auction (Forum member or not). It's not his
auction and he's pointing out a nice coin.

    Now for the discussion.

Nice coin if you like toned halves. Certainly could be called a rainbow of colors!
My Frankies never tone like that, wonder what I should do to get them so nice (lol).

What is your problem? Where is it against the rules to link to a live auction? I'd rather see a link to a good coin than the multiple fakes, frauds and junk normally linked on here.

Back to the OP. That is a very nice looking later date Frankie. If I had a little more spending money right now I would be tempted to jump in.

It is not a written rule. It is merely a convention around here. 19Lyds is completely within his rights to call "SPAM".

Strange, the reverse pic in the thread and auction are the exact same coin. Obverse looks different though.

However, a little more restraint might have been warranted. It seems some people have been very argumentative lately.

I'm with NewParadigm on this one, "I think it ok. He probably means no harm. Lets cut him some slack."

I agree. That is very interesting. This thread is starting to be fairly worthwhile IMO.
  • The link in the OP is to someone who does sell by commission so this coin *may* belong to the original poster; therefore if I were the OP, I wouldn't provide a link to the auction but rather upload images if you were to discuss said coin.

Yep that looks like the coin tonedrarities had. Personally the coin while a looker there is something about it that just doesn't sit right with me. After all wasn't fairtraderz the one with all the "addict (sp)" found toners?
  • For clarification.....Toned rarities owned 2 nearly Identical 1960-D end roll toners.....I imaged both quite a while ago and when he posted his thread he mixed up the reverse image so you are correct in that the reverse in the other thread is the coin I have for sale on Ebay but the obverses are different as they are different coins. #2 I don't own the coin as it was consigned to me and not by Rainbowroosie. I know that doesn't excuse the faupaux on his part....just providing info so that folks know that Bill isn't associated with the frankie in any way so he wasn't intentionally trying to help the sale of a coin he owned. image
  • georgiacop50georgiacop50 Posts: 2,909 ✭✭✭✭
Yep, I recall that when TonedRarities originally had them up for sale, he had the reverses mixed up at that time.

You over estimate my computer skills. I can do a link on a good day.image

While I may not do it (or do it often...if I do), if the live auction wasn't his, and he wasn't asked expressly to post a thread about it, then he did "no wrong". If he saw an auction for a cool coin, particularly if he isn't trashing the coin or inviting such actions, then it isn't spam and he isn't wrong.

He will be "wrong" in his actions if, and only if, DW/HRH/SM1/or some other moderator tells him he is. Your feelings on this, like mine, are not the rule nor the law.

No, it is a convention for some people here who think that they have a right to tell others how it should be done. At times, I can be guilty of that as well, though I have tried hard not to be. I do think, with the constraints I stated above met, that it IS ok for someone to post a link to a coin(s) that the are intereested in from a discussion standpoint, and telling them what they can do, or how to do it, is no one else's business (aside from the moderators).

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
