1935D Buffalo Newp- what do you think?

I've been eyeing this one for a while and decided to pull the trigger. It was listed on fleabay as a 1935, but obviously it is a 1935D. Also a no "F" variety. Toning? Probably questionable. Slabbed by PCI. GTG if you like!

Some will guess AU due to the hip, but in a PCI slab I'm guessings MS65.

Each collector has his/her own likes and dislikes..... if this coin attracts you, by all means acquire it. Not my preference though. Cheers, RickO

I like toned Buffs and think it attractive.
The rev looks a bit soft and I would guess that this is more a photographic focus issue than strike.
Congratulations are in order if it's a nice fit in your set!

Color on buffs is tricky but this looks like album toning from here. Mushy reverse strike -- if no wear and not genuine (I know, a lot of caveats, but hey I've submitted a few Buffalos), my guess is 64, shot 65 in PCGS. Glad to have a Buffalo collector re-join the fold. As you may know, there are a lot of good knowledgeable and enthusiastic and fun Buffalo people here -- Cape, Crazyhounddog, CoolKarma, Koynekwest, Garrowking, Shamika to name a few. And that's not even mentioning some of the dealers who know the series well.

Hmm...tough to tell on this one. Looks like your typical strike for the year and mint. I'm thinking 64. Probably sitting in a 65 PCI though.

  • I agree- the eye appeal/strike isn't something that I would put in my registry set, but I've seen worse. I mainly bought it for the no "F" variety, and the price was reasonable. Here's the grade for those who were losing sleep in anticipation image

Nice pick. Did you spot the No F from that photo?

Not from that last photo- but from the close up of the obverse that I posted originally. All three pictures were included in the auction.
