Real Or Fake Ancient

I got this coin this weekend in a batch of foreign coins. Is it real or fake?? TIA Harvey

    It looks OK to me but there has been a rash of fakes to be made low grade and its fooling alot of folks.

    Post the coin on the messageboard below as there is several highly respected collectors of that particular coin, which is a roman republic.

    Unless the coin was carried around as a pocket piece, I don't see why the areas of highest relief would be brighter than the rest of the coin. You'd think that after a thousand+ years at rest, it would have re-acquired an even pattern of toning.

    I could be wrong, of course, since I'm out of my usual area of expertise.

    Many fakes were "processed" through goats.
    Be on the lookout!

    It's a Roman Republic denarius. Looks real from the photo but it has been quite awhile since I owned any of these.

    Looks fake to me, but all ancients look fake to me.
    Let's try not to get upset.

    I am inclined to say genuine. Looks like the ones we used to sell loose out of the better junk box.
