Unless the coin was carried around as a pocket piece, I don't see why the areas of highest relief would be brighter than the rest of the coin. You'd think that after a thousand+ years at rest, it would have re-acquired an even pattern of toning.
I could be wrong, of course, since I'm out of my usual area of expertise.

Looks fake to me, but all ancients look fake to me.
I am inclined to say genuine. Looks like the ones we used to sell loose out of the better junk box. TD
