i'll make a new post in the future...images in pre-grade...haze free...with grade results

i just make sure there's no lil kids around if i use my camera on my phone...
you bet thou...coins are better then catnip...well maybe not that super kitty acme brand just released...meep-meep...
If so, and if the reverse is the same as the obverse you will inhale to the nth degree and a sucking sound will permeate this thread.
Keep us posted and good luck.
Not many posts/threads that make Russ actually bother to reply

No qtip!!! It will leave hairlines!! Just swirl the coin in it.

Yes, you should be very careful! I have seen IDIOTS hairline coins with a qtip before...but if you are very careful and merely use the qtip to apply the MS70 to the coin or lightly roll it on the coin you should have no worries....of course, it is your coin and you have to only take the risks that you are comfortable with. Good luck!

But, only a 67CAM.
The op's coin would do well with a straight up dip and fugetabout-da-qtips!

1965's are tough...congrats are in order by all means
U.S. Type Set
Regardless of how thick the frosted devices are on an SMS coin, unless the fields are deep, black and mirrored the coin will not get a DCAM designation.
This is illustrated by the photos of the three coins posted by Modcrewman, 19lyds and Cameonut. From the photographs (which concededly may be misleading) the two CAM coins belonging to Modcrewman and 19lyds have fields that are much lower in quality than the fields present on the DCAM coin belonging to Cameonut.
Looking forward to more pictures of the OP coin once it is cut out of the cello and given a bath. Hopefully a two sided Moose will emerge.

Gorgeous coin DHeath, the mirrored fields are amazing and look close to the quality you find on a silver proof Kennedy.

Before anyone starts feeling bad for poor Kevin, I figured I'd better add this photo of his 1967 Washington.

"as i look at your avatar"
knowing you got that picture of that set you scored somewhere's that should be displayed every once in awhile...incase newbies never get the chance to see such beauty
you have to understand that Don had an incredible run of a few years where he found some amazing SMS coins. actually, there were quite a few members that made really, really big finds during the first half of the decade, most probably due to the spike in prices, PM's starting the slow climb and long term holders of Proof/Mint Sets finally selling them. those might be called the Halcyon days of my collection: i found more great coins and medals during the 2001-2005 period than i have since by a long-shot. i regret that the slow economy resulted in a need to sell several coins but many remain.
Looking at the photo of the SMS set again, specifically the dime, leads me to suspect that the dime may also be a winner. The obverse of the dime looks like it has frosted devices and maybe even mirrored fields. The dime also has a silver color to it instead of clad color. It looks more like the half than it does the quarter. Silver color on a clad SMS dime indicates thick frosted devices. When LVT receives the set I hope he gets lucky on the dime and the half.
BTW my 1967 quarter was found by me many years ago raw in an OGP set. Imy jaw dropped when I saw it and I bought the set asap for bid.
what did it grade?
it's up there in sms land...i love how toning can aide contrast too...but that is
solid mirrors n frost...i see no problem with that nesting in dcam
true story there keets
i knew nothing about sms sets till tha cat drug me in here
it was hard not to fall in love with tha sms gang still prowling in 2006
it'd be hard to crown one out of that crowd...alltime best "to me" any o hoot
was dheath posting up that 1965 set
anyways...postman can't deliver quick enough today as tracking shows it's here
thanks for all the replies...even if 1sided or like russ re-enforces...it was just a pretty one side shot but other coins sent
it's been a hoot
drum rolls can be better then dice rolls in vegas i swear
The quarter remains raw, residing in a Capital style holder containing my best Cameo examples of the 15 coins in the 1965-67 SMS set. I have been putting this set together from raw SMS coins I have found over the years. All 15 coins possibly would receive at least a CAM designation [though the fields on the 1965 and 1967 dimes; and the fields on the 1965 and 1967 cents may not be mirrored enough] with the 1967 quarter and the three nickels being possible DCAMs.
I am still in upgrade mode and at some date in the future I will be satisfied with the quality of the set and will then have them graded.
The SMS sets are fascinating, due to the wide variety of finishes/looks you can find [including CAM/DCAMs; brilliant, satin, plain old ugly, toned, etc.].
<< <i>I have one that is even nicer than the OP's - no images though it is put away. >>
Ummm...ok. Um, "thanks" for letting us know?

Yes, had it re-routed to my place and sorry, but no cam on the reverse. So, it's on it's
way to your door today.
bob
I did pick this 1955 proof set up recently and I too am waiting to see whether or not the reverse (the half) looks as good as the obverse in the images. At the end of the night, we have something to show for our gambles...unlike when I go to the casino *grin*
really has a good chance of 65dcam...maybe
black mirrors under the haze...strong frost on both sides...my hopes are very high as that'd be such a club to be part of...
"making a 1965 dcam club"
the rest of the coins are in a trash pile i'll give away...nothing special
anyways as much as i can't shoot coins yet...these are my images till my friend removes all that haze...he can shoot great images too...coin was sent an hour later
Bet that will look great without the haze!!

<< <i>Teddy, that's a money coin. The obverse contrast is stunning, and the mirrors look great. The reverse is well matched. PM sent. >>
I agree - should clean up nicely. Would like to see a pic after the haze is gone.

some big players helping my hopes here i swear...
happy 4th of july you all
btw
i upgraded my camera set-up a lil
kind of a drag...i thought the nickel looked hopeful...these images are in as found condition...(i'm not even going to bother dipping it)...total dcam mirrors...almost zero frost...in the scrap pile it goes
almost had a nickel in there but i guess the heat of vegas...melted the frost
