Surprising there are so many first time posters posting on the contest by homerunhall today and I can't even get a friend of mine registered to this forum. No wonder why you all ask me why I'm so dismal...

<< <i>The contest was posted by PCGS on facebook, with a link to the forums. That may explain why there are so many new posters. Additionally, don't you think that could have been a motivating factor for the contest, to draw in more forum members and bring attention to PCGS as a company who appreciates it's customers? >>
But how do so many "new" members get accepted with such ease and I can't even get a respected friend from my local coin club approved?

I honestly don't know, but it sounds like there may be something going on with his registration. You might try sending a PM to Don Willis or another moderator to find out why.

That's odd, didn't see it on their Facebook page when I just looked.
Anyways, welcome to the new members if they really are new members

My mistake, it was Twitter. I sometimes get confused by all this social media mumbo jumbo.

Its like state quarter, only 1 in a 1000 (wild guess) will develop into a true numismatist. If we got 1 or 2 quality new members than I think it was worth PCGS's time and money even before factoring the reward to its loyalists. Besides it isn't our money

Behold the joy of paying for advertising. If you can pick up one customer out of several thousand who see your ad you've done very well.

Have him try it again, now, and see if they are working hard to get people on for the contest.
Also, does he use a "real" email or a hotmail/gmail type of email? That may make a difference in some places (not sure if it does here).

Excellent point. I withdraw my statement. What a dumb contest. MJ

Just pointing out what I see fellas. I might be guilty of being too new, but what I see seems real unscrupulous.

Even charging a "membership" fee of $1/year to keep your account active would help alleviate the 30,000+ inactive accounts here on the boards!

Well maybe, but I was thinking more like grandfathering in everyone who is already a member...just doing it for new members. On the other hand, if PCGS did do that, it would be a nice gesture for them to put the money back into doing more cool giveaways like the present one

I know when I joined, it took a while for the background check and drug test to be complete ... but I finally passed!

That said, if I win the Saint, then I will have a give-away of a > $100.00 coin open to all! My initial thought is it will be based on my 8 year olds pick of coolest aviator.
