Crossover to PSA 10? Yes or No? BGS 9.5 1996-97 Topps Chrome Refractors #138 Kobe Bryant
Please see the front and back side card scans below.
As you can see, the front side of the card is absolutely gorgeous. No flaws.
However, the back side appears to have undesirable centering. I viewed 40+ auctions for sale and sold of PSA 10 1996 Kobe Topps Chrome cards. Only 3 of the 40 PSA 10s that l found had centering similar to this one.
I reviewed the PSA 10 standards for back side centering. They state not to exceed 75/25 for back side centering. Using my trusty eye ball and BAK PRODUCTS LLC centering tool (plug), I calculated the centering on the back to be 63/37...so inside of the 72/25 standard for a 10.
Anyway, looking for board member opinions...does this cross to a PSA 10? Yes or no. And, if I am missing something other than back side centering, please inform me. Given it is now a $300 base fee for a crossover attempt at this card value level, I want to make sure a crossover attempt is worth it for this card.
Thank you

I vote yes, but without seeing the lower left corner in hand it's difficult to be confident.
Great looking card! I think your toughest obstacle is the BGS label. I'd say give it a shot.

Worth a shot based on what I am seeing. Good luck with whatever you decide.
I've submitted 2 Quad 9.5 cards for crossover to PSA 10 and was denied. If you try I hope you get it.
I think no. TB centering on the front is not perfect and left to right even seems a hair off, combo that with the back and I think they will say it is a 9.
Looks like a 10 to me. Worth a try at a cross.

@HighGradeLegends Is the refractor surface on the front of the card misaligned with the top of the card just below the white border or is that a reflection of the scan? If misaligned you may have a problem getting the PSA 10.

No way, leave it in this holder, because if it does grade a 10, unless you crack and cut out the plastic sleeve, it will go in the new holder with that same plastic sleeve from what I have seen before and it will look terrible IMHO.Those holders are oversized inside and it will probably end up even more crooked. It's cool right now in that 9.5. Unless you plan on selling, why take the risk? Just my 2 cents

I may be hoarding too much 80's junk wax but I like it!
That's a PSA 10 if you crack and submit. If you send it in for a crossover you're wasting your time and money.

Ive never crossed anything myself because Ive heard few great success stories from those that have. And those were folks that didnt have initial concerns like you do w back centering. Anecdotal to be sure but at $300 you can get another really nice card youve been longing for. Crack and resub seems to have much better success but personally I'm always nervous of (1) damaging the card, and (2) not ever getting back to the original grade, and your 9.5 is nothing to sneeze at
