Look for "Red Book of US Coins" at your local bookstore or online.
then look for those pricier ones.

The list of things to look for is long. Check out the price guides and the site @1Mike1 suggested. I think varietyvista.com and coppercoins.com are also good resources. Depending on how much you bought, you may have a long search ahead of you.

    **Your welcome!****

    It’s “you’re”. You’re welcome.

Also, even the US Mint calls them pennies on their website. That battle has long since been lost.

    look for the valuable ones

Out of curiosity, what did you buy? Was it some “unsearched wheat cent rolls” or similar from eBay? If so, expect to find a whole bunch of 40s and 50s dates and nothing valuable.

Otherwise, yeah, look for the better dates and well-known varieties in the Red Book.

Your outdoing yourself and your knowledge of coins is improving greatly from your previous posts.

Look for anything dated before 1940. If you find anything before 1940, consider yourself lucky. The seller was probably bored from looking.
Also, look for 1955/55 doubled die cents.

This and similar forums is the only form of research many people know.
