Like the lion as well!
Here is a coin issued in 1999 commemorating the striking of the first Talers in Kremnitz.

I have few modern crowns, but rarely imaged them. I found this one, though:
DPOTD
I don't know if its a crown exactly but I have a dominican republic peso that commemorates columbuses landing in the new world. I've tried to capture the toning in the past but could never manage to get it right.
Maybe i'll give it another try tomorrow

I love this issue.
The clean look of the obverse and the detailed but not busy reverse portraits design
"Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working" Pablo Picasso
The 1950 Mexico Southern Railroad silver 5 peso. Two PCGS MS66 coins, one freshly holdered white coin and a duplicate OGH heavily toned piece.

A couple other mid-century Mexican silver crowns. These both came from @illini420 Both are sweet, but I absolutely love the pastel toning on the 1957 Constitution 5 peso.
Jeff
The 1953 Cuban Marti peso in PCGS MS65. PCGS has graded just three of these at 65 with none higher. Struck at the Philadelphia mint.
Jeff
I see I'm not the only one obsessed with big, chunky mid-century Mexican silver. You can only wonder what the US would have released if they had put out a crown-sized silver coin between the end of the peace dollar in 1935 and, what, the 40% Ike in 1971?

I’ll give it a WAG. More ugly, low relief designs featuring dead presidents.

Here are some that fit the definition of modern crowns. All from the World Coins Manufactured at U.S. Mints full/type sets --
These first two were struck at San Francisco for a three piece .925 proof set. The 1976 Montreal Olympics coin graded PR68DCAM and the 1975 Holy Year coin graded PR67DCAM.
Jeff
This one is a mega crown at 42mm, 34.1 g. The Liberia $5 elephants were produced at San Francisco for inclusion in the annual Liberia proof sets dated 1973-1975. This one graded PR69CAM.
Jeff
Last two for the evening. Philippines issues. The 1961 Dr. Rizal Birth Centennial Peso was produced at Philadelphia. MS65. The 1967 Bataan Day 25th Anniversary Peso was struck at San Francisco with a proof-like finish. PL66.
Jeff
i like those Jeff!

At some point... Not exactly sure when... But the tide will turn and there will be greater interest in Mid Century coinage. Especially high grade examples. I am somewhat curious as to what the surviving population is for some of the coins in this thread. The surviving population remains at risk
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
And there are some exceptional coins pictured here especially the 1953 Cuban Peso

Hi Dan,
Not much in the way of sales data on these but I found this for the 1973 Proof $5 Elephants --
There haven't been a large number graded (perhaps NGC has seen more), here are the pops for the 1973 and 1974 coins --
Given all this, finding a nice proof set and subbing the $5 coin for grading might be the best approach. I was lucky and was able to locate a really high end 1974 proof set.
Take care,
Jeff
Not a rare coin, but a pop top at PCGS.
Edited to add that it looks like its a pop top at NGC as well.
Thank you Jeff.
Pruebas I see your a bit of coin weenie addict as well as I am buying nice modern crowns !

The US mint should travel more.
